How can I add an Open Food button to the Menu in Square for Restaurants?

We used to be a small food stand and we were using Square POS, which had an Open Food button we could pin to the favorites screen. Now that we're a full service sit-down restaurant, we've upgraded to Square for Restaurants. I can't seem to find that same Open Food button that allows us to type in the open food request and create the price, while having it print to the kitchen and on the reciept as typed. Please help!

Welcome to the Seller Community! Thank you for upgrading to Square for Restaurants! In Square for Restaurants, the process for entering open food requests has been refined. Instead of a dedicated "Open Food" button, you can now use the "Quick Sale" feature to manually enter custom orders, we also have an "Open ticket" feature. Can you please clarify what feature you are looking for?

When it comes to the "Quick Sale" button you can find it by following the steps below:

1. On the Square for Restaurants POS, tap on the "Quick Sale" button.
2. Manually enter the open food request, including the details and price.
3. Complete the transaction as usual, ensuring it's set to print to the kitchen and appear on the receipt.

Can you provide more detail on where to find the "quick sale" function? I cannot find it on my terminal, nor can I find anything in the knowledge base

There is no quick sale or open button on Square for restaurants that I can find. On your menu screen, click the actions tab, and at the bottom you should have an option for "custom amount." You can enter the amount, and then modify the description. It's super not intuitive but it's what I've found so far.

Really wish Square for Restaurants had some basic standard POS functions like "open items," the ability to sort orders by name without having to assign a guest's information to it, have one and done tabs under the orders screen, not just the transactions screen, adjust closed tabs whether there's a pre-authorization or not, etc. Hope this helps!

And devs if you're reading this, please consult a restaurant person and get these issues sorted. Some of the forums date back 5-6 years saying "we'll get this to our engineers" but the problems still persist.
