Can I use the Star TSP143 as a kitchen printer if I get the LAN unit? It shouldn't be too hot where I will use it. I like having the same printer for receipts and kitchen. Also one type of paper.

You can definitely use the TSP143LAN as a kitchen ticket printer if you choose. 

Once you setup your printer properly you'll need to turn on the Print Order Tickets through the Square Register app settings.
