Adding other square items

I currently have a 2 year old register for retail, stand, printer etc.  We are adding food.  Can I convert my retail register so it handles food including a printer in the kitchen?  It would be helpful if the bill could be totaled with a line for a tip so the bill could be given to a customer for payment.  We still want to use the retail register.

I want to make sure I understand your setup.

 

It sounds like you're currently using an iPad or Tablet to take payments for retail items. If you want to start taking payments for food (and include a tip on a receipt), I would suggest getting an additional device to take payments on. That way, you can have two payment stations with their own settings (one would have the settings to sell retail items, the other would use open tickets and take payments for food items). You can still have one Square account with your entire item library (with both retail and food items) or you can create two locations (one retail, one restaurant/food) and have two separate item libraries.
