Stock tracking - bar - United Kingdom
Hello all,
we’re just abojt to get our nee POS, i was very excited until I found out you cannot track stock accurately when using variations of the same product.
I though I would be able to add a bottle of vodka as 28 shots and then tell the till what to take from the master stock!
Apprently you can on retail but the app isn’t as good for bars.
what does everybody else do? Doesn’t this make any kind of stock report useless? What about ingredients for cocktails etc?
I’ve spent all day on the phone to square and online and cannot see a work around or solution 😞

Hi @Jamesrbn!
Thanks for providing the insight into exactly what it is you’re hoping to achieve in terms of stock tracking. It's always useful to our product development teams to have this kind of context.
It’s true that with Square for Retail you can take advantage of Stock Conversion to manage inventory when selling items in different units of measure. However, this would still not help with ingredient level tracking on cocktails for example. This is still a feature request at this time, but the beta testing has begun.
Looking at BevSpot on the App Marketplace, I think they might offer a solution to what you’re trying to achieve. They offer free or paid plans and integrate with both Square for Restaurants and the standard Square Point of Sale.
BackBar is another integration you might want to take a look at, as their free plan includes drink costing.
Hope this helps!

Hi Sinead,
It doesnt really. and i didnt want to up my costs!
I'm in the ingredients beta test, but its pointless if I can't assign portions of a master stock.
everything else is great about Square but to be a proper player in the bar space you need to realise how bars operates, we need the ability to track measures! relying on a third party just adds more cost and hastle to my day
i will go with square as its much better imo than zonal, but you really need to prioritise this feature request.
