Avoiding scheduling conflicts on shifts

Seems a quick and easy fix but at the moment when scheduling our team and using the duplicate shifts function from one week to the next, there is no obvious prompt or warning that someone has been scheduled for a shift during pre-approved annual leave.

If someone marks themselves as unavailable at certain times through the availability functionality of Square teams, then an exclamation mark and warning appears to say they have been scheduled at a time they are unavailable. But this is not the case when a manager schedules an employee at a time they have requested annual leave.

It would be handy to have the same functionality apply for annual leave requests.

Hey @MatthewsYard, thank you for flagging this with us, and very well spotted!

I just tested this on my own account, and you're right, I did not receive any prompts or notifications when I scheduled a staff member during a period of scheduled annual leave. I was, however, blocked from scheduling a staff member outside of their availability.

The best workaround I have found for this to make sure you are not scheduling a staff member during their time off would be going into a time that they are scheduled to work to double-check that they are not booked during a time they have booked off for annual leave. A banner should appear as per the screenshot below.

I can definitely see why receiving a notification about conflicting schedules could be beneficial for you and your business needs, though. I’ve passed this on to our product team and hopefully, this is something that we will be able to implement in the future.

Please let me know if you need anything else, I’d be happy to help!
