Square Register can be purchased on its own for £599+VAT, which works for businesses that already have printers, cash drawers or barcode scanners. Alternatively, you can buy Square Register as part of a kit for £1,009 if you need to buy additional hardware for your business. Regardless of which you choose, you’ll also have the option to pay for your Square Register using interest-free payment instalments for as low as £49 per month for 12 months.
Transaction rates for payments processed through all Square hardware are the same:
- Card present rate: 1.75% per transaction
- Manually-keyed in rate: 2.5% per transaction

Is Square Register right for you?
Square Register is purpose-built (i.e. specifically built to be a point of sale device vs. a multi-purpose tablet) to work well for a wide variety of businesses, but it does have a few distinctive features that will make it work best for businesses that need a customer facing display, have unique countertops and/or need to connect 3 or more pieces of hardware such as a receipt printer, cash drawer, or barcode scanner.
Square Register is also ideal for businesses that prefer to use an ethernet connection rather than Wi-Fi (though you can also connect Square Register to Wi-Fi). Or if you need a point of sale that won’t take up a lot of your counter space.
