The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Square terminal with hotel web login
I'm working an event in a hotel and the wifi requires a web-based login (last name & room number, for example). When I connect to the network on a laptop or tablet, it prompts me to sign in and takes me to a browser page where I can enter the required info.
With the Square Terminal, when I connect to the network, it gives no option to sign in but instead shows I'm connected to the network (which I am... but I have to sign in to get actual internet access). When I tap on the network, it just gives me details like Strength, Security, etc, but no way to go to a sign in page. Then, when I try to do anything, it throws the CB4 error, which is a network connection error.
I can't imagine no one at Square considered this issue or that no one has brought it up to them (I did try to search the community before posting, but couldn't find an answer).
Am I missing something? The event starts tomorrow, so I'm hoping someone has a suggestion!

Hi @VenessaG, we appreciate you reaching out. Welcome to the Square Community.
I see you mentioned your event was occurring last week, so I hope you were able to use the workaround that @SVLFever provided. This is a great idea, as you are able to use a mobile hotpot with your Terminal.
However, the Square Terminal is not able to connect to a captive network portal (such as a hotel that requires a name, hotel room number, etc.). The highlighted section (see image below) from our Square Terminal Set Up support article goes over this detail.
We are sorry to hear if the inability to connect to a captive network portal caused any inconveniences for you. As you mentioned as well, we would suggest adding a Feature Request to our Ideate platform. I can definitely see how this function would be helpful for other sellers as well.
In the meantime, please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or concerns. We would be happy to help.

Hey @VenessaG . To my knowledge, there is no way to set a password from a Square terminal, but I'm wondering if you can connect the Terminal via wi-fi to a hotspot on your phone or laptop? I would think that would work, although I have never tried.
Just a thought. Good luck with your event.

I can, but the entire point of getting the terminal was so I wouldn't have to leave my phone with my asst while I'm away from the booth.
I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I'll email support and put in for a feature request.
