I have owned my square terminal for 1.5 years. It works sometimes and sometimes I get a dark screen and white line down the middle. This has happened in the middle of a transaction. Leaving me to log onto the square website to see if the transaction was successful.
How do I go about getting this repaired or even checked out?

Hi there, @Rp3 - Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about your Square Terminal. l 😞 I can certainly provide you with some information on our warranty policy.
Square warrants your Square Hardware against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the shipping date. This limited warranty does not apply to Square Hardware that has been subject to alteration, repair, tampering, accident, abuse, misuse, fire, acts of god, or other external causes.
For the Square Terminal, you’ll have to contact our Support team and obtain approval before submitting a warranty claim. To proceed with the warranty process, please follow the steps listed here.
I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hello @queensconsign I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Terminal. As far as I know Square does not offer repairs with their current hardware options. You can view this post about troubleshooting and see if anything here would fix your issue, but if it is a broken hardware issue, I think you'll have to contact Support about a replacement.

The power button is broken and the device can no longer be turned off and if it does turn off, presumably, it will no longer term back on. this is a physical problem with the button, not a software issue.
are these things repairable or is $299 gone because a button broke?

Hi Rp3,
Sorry to hear about that. From other posts I've seen, it looks like Square does not repair hardware. Should your Terminal still be under warranty, they will replace it. Others have had various issues too - see this post from @HC_Charlie. Probably not the best news for sure however I would still try contacting Tech Support.

So, the answer is, if the warranty is up on a perfectly good unit then: Yes, $299 gone because a button.
