Enable Subscription Renewal Reminders

For Subscriptions with long durations, it would be nice to remind subscribers that their subscription will soon be renewing. This affords them the opportunity to cancel before the renewal date.

 

If a subscription undesirably renews it causes customer dissatisfaction.

 

If we agree to refund the unexpected renewal, we lose the initial charge fee, are charged additional refund fees and since Canceled Subscriptions are still active, can't really end the Subscription.

 

The ability to configure a reminder on/off and "days in advance"  could be part of the Plan configuration.

 

It would also be nice to know if the reminder has been viewed by the recipient, similar to the way invoice interaction emails are logged.

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).

This is more excellent feedback on the Subscriptions feature and what you'd like to see added for the future. 

 

I appreciate you taking the time to drop all of these in the Ideate Board & new Feature Request process. 

 

Similar to your other post about adding Termination to status options, this one is not on the roadmap. 

 

Keep an eye out for another status update whenever one of the Community Moderators has some more information on this one too!

This one's pretty critical to us.

 

We lose time and money when a Subscription is "unexpectedly" renewed and the customer no longer wants to continue. They expect a refund, which we can do, and is expensive to us, and we need to actually invalidate/terminate the Subscription, which we cannot do.

 

We may need to pause our use of Square's Subscriptions until some of these things make it into the product.

This is now a deal-breaker for us.

 

Without reminders, our customers are now canceling their subscriptions when they receive an invoice for the renewal. 

 

This would be OK, EXCEPT that at that point, the new subscription period is already in effect and the subscription can't be Terminated; it runs through the full next period.

 

This means that we have subscriptions which are "Cancelation Scheduled" and still in effect (ends in future), but for which a customer has not, and will not, pay.

 

We're going to have to find another way to do Subscriptions until the features we require are available.
