We have passcodes setup on our Point of Sale devices. It's easy for our Team to get clocked in as there is a prompt after the "log in" regarding clocking it. It's way too easy to miss clocking out since there isn't a prompt after "logging out." Is there a way to alleviate this problem? I'm afraid we're going to have lots of time keeping errors and am considering not having passcodes enabled but really don't like that option. Needing to correct lots of time cards due to this doesn't seem great either. Really wish there was a spot to just clock out and not require first logging out or else a prompt to ask about clocking out after the member has logged out. Any tips?

Hey @Iceburg1. As tempting as your solution sounds, trust me you do NOT want the POS to prompt every time a team member logs out. Take the case of a busy restaurant. Team members log in and out of various POS all day. That extra prompt would drive them all crazy.
Having said that, you can set up automatic clock out for your team members from your online dashboard > Team > Settings > Clock in/out. There is an automatic clock out setting there. If that happens for a team member, they get notified through the Team App and email. That way, if it was a mistake and they were actually working late they can request a time card adjustment, also through the team app.

I can understand why some wouldn't want it that way, but there needs to be an option for the way we use Square. Automatic clock out isn't an option for us as we don't use Square Scheduling. It will automatically clock them out after 24 hours but doesn't even give anyone an alert about that (employee or employer) which is a different problem in my opinion. Sure wish that was different as well.

@Iceburg1 Well, Square scheduling DOES alert the employee and the employer about automatic clock outs, but as you noted it does so only if you are using Square scheduling. What you are asking for here is pretty unique and probably wouldn’t be a feature that would be used much by the Square seller community at large. But it’s always worth making a formal feature request. Head over to the Ideate Board and submit your feature request to the Staff and Payroll team. This will get the ball rolling on an evaluation and decision process. Note that this just starts the process though. It could take a while before a decision is made. In the meantime, I know of no workarounds that would help you. I’m sorry.
