why does Square Register deduct cash refunds on cash sales?

every time we issue a cash refund on a cash sale, Square does not deduct it from the drawer deposit, it leaves the drawer short. Also why is there not a cash counter for when you close the drawer, to display amounts of each currency and coins?

I haven’t noticed it not deducting cash refunds from the drawer total, normally it is listed in the drawer report when you close the drawer. You can try doing the refund as you normally do and then doing a payout from the drawer and listing it as a refund. That could potentially double up the payment though so check it on the report after you do it. The cash drawer function in Square has always been a little bit barebones so no cash counter function, I always just use a separate app on my phone for that. The one I use is called Tilly Tally. Works very well
