Square Register touch screen not responding/delayed

Interesting issue with my Square Register. A week ago my touch screen began to act up out of nowhere. Touch screen no longer responded, and/or selecting items was significantly delayed. I've done EVERYTHING asked of Square Support to no avail. I was sent a new register via warranty claim. Keep in mind, my register is only 4-5 months old and used it everyday with zero problems. 

 

The new register arrives. Out of the box, everything seems to be OK. Touch is responsive and it seems like I can get back to normal. That was until I updated the Square Register. I am convinced the update is the culprit. As soon as the update finished, this BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX SQUARE REGISTER went back to its old ways. Touch screen not responding, or significant delays to touch. It is basically rendered useless. Now I have two Square Registers that don't work. 

 

I have done Restart, Reboot, Factory Resest, Held the power button until the countdown went to zero, sent diagnostic reports, took a video for Square support rep. Changed outlets. Put no static material between Square Register and Cash drawer. Still no fix. Its a shame because it was a good product and now Square cant even solve this issue and I seem to be the only vendor in the world that is having this issue.  If anyone has had this issue and resolved it I would love to know.

No you are not the only one with Square hardware not being responsive.  I have been using a Square Stand though with Ipad, not the same as the Register.  

My issue is that when I try to type to search for an Item, I can type 2 letters then the screen stops responding..... then I get back the flashing curser and can type a few more characters..... The reason I saw this is not to much of a problem for me is that I usually scan my items and then it is responsive and pops right in.  So 80% of my items are in and I also do not typle to find customers, since most of my instore customers I do not track.  I did not set up Square Loyalty Program as with that program it does not work for my needs.  I think I did complain on the forum before and never did get a resolution.  Then after an update it went away, but then after another update it returns.  I do not know which updates worked and which ones slow the process down as I am usually not at the front checkouts.

I actually made a 'cheat sheet' up at the checkouts for items that are not in Square to Scan.  Like our small body jewlery, charms, and a Miscellaneous barcode for when we have a one of a kind item that we just put the price on the item with no barcode.  We scan the Misellaneous Barcode and then type in the price.  The issue is when looking at reports, my staff would scan Misellaneous for items the barcode was damaged and then stock counts would be off.  I also saw before other businesses were having problems with Receipts or Cash Drawers being delayed from Square Hardware, again I am not sure if that was an update or specific to certain hardware.   Just mentioning this as you are not the only one that had similar issues, but I think most were fixed.
