Is there an update log for square register?

I saw someone asked this 3 weeks ago but nobody responded. Is there a way to see when updates got pushed and what they actually changed/fixed? Sometimes things get changed and we have to adapt on the fly and figure stuff out by just using the software. It's not an ideal situation.

@ndixon currently there isn't a "changelog" sort of thing to keep up with small updates and bug fixes.  Major feature announcements come through the main page of the forums here through square employees, but sometimes these features may be out a little sooner than the announcement.  Do you have an example of something that recently changed that caused any issues?

It's mostly the behind the scenes stuff that I'm interested in hearing about. Sometimes I get in and boot up the register and it needs to install an update. It feels like it didn't do anything. It would be nice to know what they are working on and making better but transparency isn't exactly Square's strong suit.

 

Recently when they menus to add items to the cart, it flip flopped back and forth a handful of times. They didn't have anything posted to tell me what was going on. That kind of stuff is very annoying.

What is the current software version number? Is that available somewhere? I think our is out of date (even though we keep it powered on and online at all times) but have no way of knowing.

@Amanda_Bierock Are you on android or iOS?

 

If you go to the three lines on bottom right --->  support ----> about  It should have a version number and if you post it here I can cross check it for you.  Android is 6.22 on my phone, I would have to check a tablet and I will look at the iOS version.

You can check to see if your Square Register is up to date on its software by following the instructions listed here. The current latest software version should be 5.41.0076.

Thanks. I will see if following those steps will work to get our software up to date. Unfortunately it appears our Square Register is currently "stuck" and unable to update. I am wondering if a factory reset will be necessary.

If your Register is unable to update then yes the next thing to try is a Factory Reset. Here is our Troubleshooting Guide for Square Register in case you need it.
