is it necessary now to girt identity verification (photo with id) before buying the pos machine? because i first want to order the pos machine and then while setting up machine i want to verify my identity.

To buy a POS machine from Square it may be needed to have a photo ID to verify that You are You and not someone else just trying to order a machine.  You could order a Machine from Ebay or Amazon and not need a photo ID for the machine but then it also will not work to take any payments since you would not have been verified by Square with a Photo ID.  Square needs all this information to verify you to approve you to accept card payments for your business.  You can not setup your Machine until your Square Account is verified, You would need to be logged into your Square account to set things up.  Like Cash Drawer, Receipt Printer, Sales tax data.  So to have a Square account you need to be verified first.
