Selling business and wanting to know how do I transfer square systems

I am selling my business and I own my square register and printers

I am wondering how I include that in the sale without the new owner having all my business for half the year eg taxes sales reports etc

Hi Tastybites,

I don't believe the hardware will be a problem - what ties the hardware to the business is the software (your Square Account).  For example, I sold an iPad, Stand, Contactless Reader and Printer to another party.  On my end all I had to do was reset the iPad so it was clean, the new owner then downloaded and installed the POS App, then associated the App with their Square Account.  The tricky part is - are you transferring your Square Account to the new owner ?  This can get complicated and depends on a lot of factors, there's a process - see this link.  Another option that is less demanding is for the new business to setup their own account with all their associated information (bank account, EIN or SS info, etc), this gives them a clean start and makes your life easier.  You can then download or export a lot of your data like item details, inventory, etc. to a CSV file and the new business can upload that data to their account.  What you can't do is export your item photos.  If you have a Square website, I'm not sure if that can be done - Customer Support would have information on that.  Perhaps some other Community members have some thoughts.
