Quickbooks or Square for POP, inventory, ecommerce?
I am trying to decide between Quickbooks Online and Square for my POP, Inventory and ecommerce. I have accounts with both. I have Quickbooks for years, since starting my business to manage / track accounting. Last year I had to set-up a Square account because the EMR software that I use for my practice only integrates w/ Square for electronic payments within the software. I only have a free account.
Now business is growing and I recently started selling supplements and healthcare products in office, stocking a small inventory. I need a way for my front office staff to take payment at checkout that, ideally, DOESN'T involve them having to use their own devices to sync with the ready or to access my account. Also wills start selling some products online in 2024 via my website. Quickbooks (while having functionality for inventory tracking / management and a credit card reader) requires that anyone using the reader connect to the app on a device (their device) at checkout. Which means they either have to use their phone or I have to buy an iPad etc for the front desk. Does square work the same, i know there are several options for POP/POS devices and machines? I can't get to a real person to ask this question.... Also, Quickbooks does integrate with Square... Does anyone have experience with this? Is it pretty clean in terms of accounting (starting inventory, ending inventory, sales)?

To know what is available for sale through your Square account you would need to track Inventory in Square.
For accounting purposes it is better in QuickBooks.
Integration from Square to Quickbooks is there but have seen lots of questions about this in this Square Forum. Not everything transfers from what I have read here. Now Quickbooks is moving to mostly online and charges fees monthly. Most integrations to QBO will also have a monthly fee and some are based on the Lines of data transferred. Again what counts as a line of data? How expensive will this become?
Square is more for processing of a sale and added features to track inventory and COGS. Now Square does not track other overhead like Utility bills etc so you still need QB's or an accounting package.
As for a POS system to except payments with Square.... a sell phone, tablet, Square Stand, Register or Terminal would be the best options. You could also use the terminal on a computer but that is through the OWNERS log in I believe. Being the owner its the only way I log in. Now with any other device you can set up adevice code and restrict each user as to what they can see in your account. Even if they can offer a discount or refund.
