I have an issue with someone using stolen credit card info

This stinks! I have an issue with someone using stolen credit card info to order delivery via Square Online using different emails, phone numbers AND names everytime! Then the real credit card owner submits a dispute because of course they don't recognize it. Unfortunately Square doesn't allow us to block orders based on address alone 😞

@bingsuboba I'm sorry about the trouble you're having with fraud disputes.

Have you enabled a 3D Secure (3DS) rule in Risk Manager? https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7623-risk-manager-3d-secure-3ds

While many sellers use Risk Manager, relatively few use the 3DS rules in Risk Manager, but 3DS is incredibly powerful. When a payment is falls into a 3DS rule and is screened by 3DS, the default liability for a fraud dispute shifts away from the merchant. This is an absolutely essential tool to protect you against fraud disputes. I strongly recommend you add a 3D Secure rule immediately if you haven't done so.

@faheem Wow thanks so much! That's super helpful. I wish 3DS' conditions were a little more comprehensive, but it'll help in the meantime! Thank you again!

I have the same problem. Did setting up the 3D Secure Rule help, or did it negatively impact sales by causing decreases in payment completions and increases in issuer declines? I’m looking for recommendations or solutions to fix this issue.

Additionally, it would be helpful if Square could provide an option to block specific addresses, as I have been unable to do so. I have 4 outstanding disputes from the same
individual or associated parties. We have set up the block from the previous 4 transactions for the email , phone and ip address. Despite our proactive measures to identify and block this individual due to previous issues, they have continued to place orders using different names and credit card information, which has hindered our ability to effectively manage their transactions.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
