How to best handle add-ons with multiple prices based on quantity?

We have a drink shop and have toppings available for drinks (flavored jellies, bursting boba).  We have a +60 cents price for either, but we want to allow people to mix two.  Rather than charge them 60 cents for each, we'd like to have 2 be a +1 dollar.

We've been having headaches trying to get all these variations and stuff to work on Square.  Is there some simple method to allow this?  We've got all the options for which toppings, but we can't set a variable price based on quantity selected as far as we could tell.  We thought to add a second surcharge option, but then it's an extra item showing on receipts and might get overlooked by employees, plus it's just another step in the process which will slow down taking orders.

Hi @ClayburnG.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but what you are seeking is not exactly possible right now.  If you are dead-set on giving customers price breaks for additional toppings, you are stuck with having two modifier sets, with the second one being optional for those cases where customers only want one topping. You’d also need to remember to only allow one modifier to be chosen for each of the two sets.

I own an ice cream shop with a similar quandary for toppings.  In my case, I ran the numbers using actual sales from the previous year and determined that I could achieve the same thing by just reducing the per-modifier up charge somewhat,  That turned out to be much easier than mucking up my order-entry interface with multiple modifier sets with the same modifiers in each.

Otherwise, Square engineers have been given a few feature requests for enhancing modifiers to include things like this, as well as conditional and stacked modifiers.  However, as of the date I write this I’ve seen no indication any of these might be on the roadmap.  I only tell you this to explain why I’m not, in your case, going to suggest that you submit a feature request.  it’s been done.
