Date/Time & Network are correct & working. When I tap app in settings, the location toggle usually at top is not there.
Every remedy recommended has been tried.

Ok. So, again if I’m reading you right and not jumping to conclusions, this problem is just on your phone, right? You can access your account on other devices like a laptop or tablet? If so, then we are definitely narrowing this down and your phone is the culprit. Which tells me that this might require to true nuclear option.
This would require you to first do a manual backup of your phone to the cloud. Then start with resetting ONLY your network settings (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings). My suspicion now is that there is a bug/ghost somewhere in those settings which this should reset/correct. Then try again with signing into your POS.
If that doesn’t work, then my recommendation would be to Erase All Content and Settings and set up your phone as a completely new device. Of course, this is a last resort since you will have to update to whatever iOS version you want, then restore from the backup you made earlier. This is not a quick process, obviously.
The fact that this problem is only happening on your one device makes me very suspicious that this is your best option to get going again.

Hi @TheRidge. Sorry to hear you are having problems here. However, I don’t know where to begin. You said “every remedy recommended has been tried.” But, since you don’t specify exactly what those failed remedies were, then I hesitate to offer suggestions because they might be on the list already. So, you first. Please post EVERY remedy that you have tried that has not worked. That, at least, gives us something to work with here.

@TheRidge Also, you said that you “can’t login in” to the app. But you don’t describe what is happening. Is there an error message? Do you have screen shots showing the problem you can share? Etc.

thank you. It was Saturday 10/12, we had missing transactions. Was going to check if someone had switched locations inadvertently. During that process, it (the app) said log out to switch. Had never seen that but thought it might be something new via an update. After logging out,
LOGIN ERROR
please check your network connection or date/time. (Paraphrased)
checked those, all functioning correctly.
Turned phone off, back on. Same message.
Unistalled/Reinstalled-same message
iOs is 16.17.10
Talked to Verizon-phone functioning as should regarding network connection &
date/time.
Same w/ Geek Squad (Verizon sent me there)
Talked to square support, went back thru the uninstall/force close/etc remedies, same error.
One thing I’ve noticed, when I tap on square app in list of apps in settings, (where you scroll down near bottom), on all other devices “Location” is the top line but on the phone it’s not showing up. It’s Siri, background refresh, & something else.
Also where apps are listed that use location Square app isn’t listed.

@TheRidge Thank you! That is very helpful.
First things first. Saturday there was a Square outage that affected lots of sellers. Basically, transactions were being processed, but their reporting was severely delayed. Some sellers — like me — didn’t see transactions show up in the list for over an hours. Others took longer. For future reference, if you are noticing something odd it is a good idea to head over to the Square Status page to be sure there isn’t an outage or other issue. Anyway, that issue was resolved and I’ve heard no reports of missing transactions. The issue seems to be entirely delayed reporting.
Second, the screen with “Siri, background refresh, etc” is NOT a Square settings screen. It is an iPhone settings screen. The location there has NOTHING to do with Square locations. It only has to do with making our phone’s location visible to Square and other apps. So, in this case that is irrelevant. If you need to see what location your Square POS is currently working with, you have to use the settings screen in the Square POS app, not in your phone’s settings.
Otherwise, at first I thought that you iOS version might be the problem. IOS 16 is at least two generations old. However, currently Square POS apps support at least iOS 15, so I was able to rule that out.
It sounds like you are trying to login to your app using your phone’s data plan, and not WiFi? If I’m correct in that assumption, have you tried to connect to a WiFi network and sign in? If so, is the result the same? Can you please make the error happen again and post a screen shot of the error, or even better a video that shows what you are doing and what happens? In this case, a picture/video is definitely worth a million words, especially with errors/glitches as odd as this one seems to be.

I realize the location toggles/info isn’t square, just included b/c it appears on all other devices.
Yes, using WiFi. Have tried at multiple locations on WiFi.
In screenshot, the password was entered.
we experienced same outage. Did check that. I was checking that we hadn’t compounded the problem by changing locations.
side note:
I have a completely separate square account for another biz. Get the same error message trying to login into it just on this phone.
I think it’s trying to retire!😊

Yes just this phone.
FYI:
the square dashboard app is working just fine.
I have not tried logging out if it for obvious reasons.
I’m gonna have to find help about all this backing up.
last ipad I reset, it took 2 days to get all the printer back on line.
obviously this is NOT my strong suit!

Update:
Network Reset didn’t fix.
Randomly toggled on Find my IPhone & PRESTO…it’s back working. All that was off prior.

Thanks for the update. Now that is a little odd since location tracking (needed for Square POS apps) should NOT depend on Find my iPhone being on. That might be something the engineers want to check out? @_Violet @Katie_SQ
