Hi SissyL,

Please see this info - it details all of the payment methods that Square does accept.   Medicare or Insurance in general is not accepted however HSA and FSA cards are if you are a healthcare provider and you selected the Medical Practitioner, Medical Services, or Dentistry business category during the signup process.  Daycare centers and childcare services are unable to accept HSA and FSA cards through Square at this time.

Directly no, but with a couple of extra steps it’s possible to use square and enter Medicare payments so that they appear in your reports. That would enable you to use Square in your practice and collect payments directly from patients for private pay and copays. For Medicare patients what it would require is that you create an invoice for the service then you would be able to take a payment against the invoice for the copayment directly from the patient. Once Medicare pays their portion you would go back into the invoice and credit the payment by selecting “other” and entering the amount. You could also enter into the notes Medicare or whatever you want to track it. Haven’t played with it but it may be possible to change the label on 1 of the “other” payment methods to be Medicare. While in the invoice you should also be able to make adjustments to reflect any payment reductions for “ usual & customary” or disallowed charges
