Our business involves going to multiple locations most days. Some locations are open every day, tying these tablets to a location with a device code is not a problem. the same device goes to the same location every day. We have some tablets that we need to sign into a different location every day of the week, so we can track sales at each location. Assigning a device code to these tablets seems to lock them into a location. Signing in with email requires the two step verification. we do not have a single person always there to receive the code. it is not practical for the owner to be passing along verification codes so that employees can log in, or to sign in all the tablets before the trucks leave for the day. it seems to be required to log out to change locations, thus not being able to stay logged in. Any ideas?

What would happen if you create Device Codes by Location for the tablets that move around?
for example Device codes for Main st is xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
and Device Code for 3rd st is YYYY-YYYY-YYYY
The biggest problem I see here is that Square Charges per Location, so if you add Locations to test your fees would go up. Now if you already have these locations setup and included in your Billing then there would not be an issue.
So if you have 5 Locations each device would have 5 Device Codes based on Location not the actual device for the devices that change locations. Again this would reguire logging out then logging in with the next locations Device code. No need for 2 step verification tho.
Hope that makes sense. This should help eliminate the 2 step verification code process. Then you just need away that the employees know which code they need to enter when they get to the location. Post it note or have a manager log the device in for the location they will be going to before they leave.
Now I just thought of another option....
Edit the Names of the Device going to XYZ location. For example I have my 4 devices named :
My Cell
Cash & CC Sales
CC Only
Mobile
You can edit these names before employee leaves, in the dash board to say Main street Location. Then in reports you can Filter reports by Device Nickname. Before my 3 Tablets all showed up as IPAD, so this nick name for devices has helped. But just because you change the Nick Name, what ever is set for Location will still show Sales for that Location but from one device that was actually some place else. Unless you have a Location set as Mobile or Varied and set that as the Location for the devices that change. So in my example if I have a POP Up sale at say a town event call it Home Coming weekend. I may change my Mobile Device to Home Coming Pop Up Sales..... All sales are still to my main Location but I can still see how much I made at the Home Coming Weekend event I was at. Then after the event I put the Name back to Mobile, till another pop up event. Just make sure the Nick Name is specific, not just "trying a new location" for example because 5 yrs from now you may not know where that New Location was.
These are my ideas to help you out but if you have more specifics and do not understand what I trying to convey to you. Maybe if you let me know the specific better. Does every truck leave a main location and go to 1 Location for the Day? Do these Locations Repeat? Do any of the trucks go to multiple Locations in the same day? Are they Routes? Trucks going to the same locations by day of the week?
Just trying to understand and maybe work out a better plan for you.

yes, one truck goes to Genoa on Monday, Fullerton on Tuesday, Albion on Wed, etc. Plus we have multiple farmers markets on Saturday and Sunday that we need to track separately. We don't currently use teams.

Simplest way I think is to give each employee their own log in.
This way if everything goes wrong, a device signs out or something breaks then they can problem solve and sort the situation out themselves. They will then be responsible for their own 2FA (or not use that if you tell them not to)
You can assign login profiles so they can only see/do what you want - so you don't have to give them access to anything they can't already see.

we don't currently use teams, I put myself on to experiment, but I don't see how my passcode allows me to sign in the square app on a device. I just have to type in my passcode for other thing now that I didn't before. I don't need to track employees, they just need to be able to sign into the app on their own.
