Re: Round-up option for non-profit donation

Re: Round-up option for non-profit donation

Square, please add this right away.  I have been asking you all for this for literally years (as a nonprofit ourselves, we would like to give patrons an option to round up to donate to us), but businesses also need the option to help local charities.  When change is in short supply as it is now, this is even more important than ever.  It's undoubtedly a simple option to add, and most of your competitors have it.

Thank you!

I started a petition…if we have a large # to sign it maybe that will spark something instead of just some posts on a thread.

maybe?!

here it is: https://chng.it/Fcxp47FNdQ

As an NPO, we ask ask folks for donations often. We also have very affordable services we provide, but would love to ask folks to add a donation after they pay for our services.

Ideally we would input our items, and hand our terminal over to our guests for them to tap, swipe, or dip their card. Before they run their card, they'd be greeted with a screen that says, "Would you like to add an additional donation to help support our mission?" And if yes, they could key in that amount to be added to their total.

I could see this being useful for Non-Profits everywhere!

@_Violet I think this is a great idea!

We are a nonprofit museum, so donations are very important to our annual budget. At the end of each transaction, we ask the customer if they would like to round up to the next whole dollar as a donation back to our organization. We have a button for donations with a variable amount. Currently, we have to manually calculate how much the donation would be and then input it as a donation. This manual calculation is not easy for all of our associates (who are all volunteers) so many are not asking customers to avoid having to do this.

I would love a feature that allows us to round up to the next whole dollar and classify it as a donation.

I'm sure there are for profit businesses who would also like this feature so they can partner with nonprofits to help them fundraise.

Also, if the transaction is by a member who has a 10% discount, we have to calculate the donation and then click off the discount on the donation. It's very cumbersome.

You can see that this is a highly requested option and one that deserves a look.  Please add this feature!

I would love to have this so we can round up and do even change for all customers. The current workaround I know of is to add a "Round Up" item and dont set the price. Have a calculator and just click it and adjust the price to what you need it to be. However it would be great to have since the current way to do so takes too much time.

PLEASE add a Round Up feature at check out for non-profit fundraising. I'd hate to have to take our business elsewhere so please help the non-profits out!

Thank you

Hey there, @tahoewarf

Thank you for bringing this feature request to the Ideate Board. I have moved your post to a thread that already exists for this feature.

Keep an eye out for any status updates!

Adding our name to the round up feature request-

We are hoping to sell our CBD products with a round up option for PTSD Survivors and Veteran. This feature is CRITICAL to the expansion of our business and triple bottom line.

This would also be a great marketing tool for square, it’s not a valueless feature and I don’t think has been advertised by your competitors. People know this is a time of charity and good will as we rebuild our country, and the world. It would have been powerful if Square could say

“Our sellers rounded up a million dollars for Ukraine” right!?

it’s such low hanging fruit and zero down side. I’m confused why Square sat on this opportunity since 2016. You guys are awesome this feature would be a great reflection of who you are as a company

I also signed the petition. Good luck to whoever started that.
