Feature Request: Automatically add a bottle deposit

Feature Request: Automatically add a bottle deposit

I found the feature has been requested, but it doesn’t seem like it has been implemented. Since it may have gotten lost in the shuffle, I’ve decided to bring it up again. It looks like it has been requested since at least May 2016.

If the cashier selects a soda bottle, can we have the ability to automatically select the 5 cent deposit, as a non-taxable add-on? We have many cashiers, and the line of customers is often long, and I don’t want to burden them with having to remember to select the deposit as a separate item.

Thank you for reading/listening :).

Re: Feature Request: Automatically add a bottle deposit

Please Implement this ASAP, CRV is a must, along with other types of bottle deposits. The fact that the support responses are workarounds rather than proper feature implementation isnt helpful to sellers who have to deal with these issues on the daily. Lets add automatic crv/bottle deposits to be charged, it can be a simple feature edit in the items, lets make this happen

Feature Request: Automatically add a bottle deposit - or charge CRV in California

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Bottle Deposit

We are opening a cidery and will be selling bottles of hard cider. In Iowa you have to charge a .05 bottle deposit. Is there a way to have this charge automatically added to the sale of a bottle without adding it to the price? i would like it to show on the receipt as a .05 deposit but not have to remember to add to each sale. I guess it would be like a tax but it isn't a percentage and I don't see where I can change a tax from percentage to $.

Thanks for any help.

We would be interested in a better solution, we can add a modifier to a product but again it's another step that a cashier has to take to remember to apply a deposit or click on a deposit, particularly when it's busy.  This is the first time i've seen a POS system where this is not possible...

Any Updates from Square?!  This has been out there for YEARS and had no movement that I can find.

Feature Request: Automatically add a bottle deposit

This seems to have been requested since at least May 2016.

If the cashier selects a soda bottle, can we have the ability to automatically select the 5 cent deposit, as a non-taxable add-on? And to add to pre-add to any items we select (that way we don't have to do it during check out).

Thank you.

Save your keystrokes patricia023....  I am one of many resentful Square users that are looking for an exit route because of circumstances such as this.
They can't even be bothered to respond to something that is perpetually costing us time/energy/money.
But they sure are happy to keep taking their fees!!!

Point confirmed.  I admonish them for non-responsiveness, and they don't respond.

Get it together Square!!

It's wild how long this has been as issue. I've moved on from square a long time ago, so many better options with companies that offer support

dm03xt--

What POS system did you move to? I have been researching!

I'm looking at Toast.  It's a bit more money, buuuuut they have support and more importantly they have a way to keep track of my liquor/beer/restaurant inventory.
Right now the only thing keeping me from moving is the time/hassle of the move itself....  I'll bet Square has nothing to say about this either.

HI Square

we now have a new CA expansion of the CA CRV program to include WINERIES (of which I am one) which is a $54 BILLION dollar industry in California last year.

Why can't SQUARE come up with a solution to the massively expanded need in our industry alone to build a bottle deposit in as a non-taxable modifier for each item? Or some other better solutino than creating a seperate item to sell with each transaction? Toast handles this as well as much of the competition. We already use a differnet POS system for our e-commerce, and not having this issue addressed pushes us that much closer to toally jumping ship. Ridiculous it's been an issue for more than 7 years, not fixed.

I brought this up to Square in November and then numerous other times.  The CRV has to be automatically added to wine bottle sales in CA and they have done nothing about it so far as I know.  A VERY simple fix would be to allow a new tax (CRV) that can be created with an amount ($.10) instead of only a %.

Just about ready to dump square if they don’t get this done.
