Is there a way for a customer to indicate dine-in or take-out when they place an order in a square online store?

Online through weekly and on SalesVu (Orderup) the Square kiosk partner. Its easy enough to know that kiosk orders are Dine-In, but take-out and dine-in customers order from their phone online.

Hi @CityLightsSylva Just so I understand, you have some customers that place a pickup order online, but then decide to eat at the restaurant?
If this is the case, I think the best option would be to enable the Note to Seller option for the store. You can find this under Settings > Checkout > Advanced.
I think you could also achieve this by adding modifiers to your items. The modifier could be a checkbox option for "dine in" so that it's clear on the item itself.

Correct. No built in feature for this but Bernadette's workarounds will work for now while we implement more features in the future.

We really, REALLY need for Square Online to be able to have the dine in or HERE option available, instead of just pickup and delivery. It is a waste of money for us as a restaurant to be packaging everything to go just to see customers sit at our tables and throw all the packages away. It makes me sad and angry.
I was going to comment the exact same things!
I actually have in my pickup instructions for guest to add "dine in" in the notes before checking out but, most do not. I've been contemplating if I should add a "service fee" as we've had the same wasted issue of people ordering online and eating at the restaurant then, throwing all of the to-go containers and packaging away.
I know it's been a few months now since your comment but, have you found a better solution?

Nop, no change, not a single reply from Square/Weebly. They don't care about us, they just care about the sales online. We have begun discouraging online ordering and prioritizing dine-in customers. They spend more and we don't see as much chargebacks as we were seeing through online ordering. We are also adding a "Packaging fee" if customers at our restaurant order for dine-in and still want everything packaged to go.
