Hi. I am new to the square community. Does making an account cost anything? Also, I am wanting to receive a payment of around $4000 for a professional job I am doing. The people paying me will only pay with a credit card. Will I get charged through square for accepting an online payment from the buyer? Thanks.

Hi @Turtledove
Welcome to the Square Community. Creating an account with Square is free to do so. Be sure to go through all the settings and business info to complete the process and verification.
Like any processing company their will always be a fee involved, A recent update also added a "surcharge" feature in which can be added to the sale and used for the buyer to cover the fees.. Here is a more in depth article on square's fees explained.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the help @Minion. Do you know the link where I can find more information about the “surcharge” you mentioned? Thanks.
