The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Subscriptions cant use local delivery, only shipping"
So I own a water business and I deliver water. I want my customers to sign up for a subscription to this service, but the Subscription setting only allows items to be shipped, not locally delivered.
The issue is, shipping is state based only, Local delivery I can Limit the distance and and I can charge by distance. What can I do?
Thanks

Hello @H2GO, I appreciate you reaching out and understand your concern about the fulfillment options on subscriptions right now. I am sorry for the inconvenience. As @TheRealChipA mentioned this is a feature request, and one our team is still monitoring. As soon as we have an update of when delivery will be available we will let you know. Thank you for your patience.

HI @H2GO. At this time, there is nothing you can do. Subscriptions only works with the shipping fulfillment method. There have been more than a few folks — myself included — who have requested more fulfillment options, to include all fulfillment options Square has right now. However, while this might be on the roadmap, there has been no announcement about a beta test of anything else.
If you need something right away, you should be able to use a third-party app that integrates with Square. The one I am considering is Submatic, but there are others in the Square App Marketplace. Otherwise all we can do is wait for the announcement from Square. I will mention that what we have currently is version 2 of Subscriptions, which is a definite upgrade in functionality. But this is still a relatively new feature from Square so it will take some time to completely flesh it out, I would imagine.
If my answer resolves your issue, please take a minute to mark it as Best Answer. That helps people who find this thread in the future.

Thanks for the reply. I look forward to seeing what comes next. My work around or 3rd party will work for now. Another feature that would be cool is subscriptions can offer a monthly limit to something. Such as a "session" or in my case "gallons"

Can you provide the feature request so I can upvote? @MayaP
I am running into this same issue: the only option is Shipment for subscriptions. What is the plan to allow subscriptions to have other fulfillment options (Such as 'in-store' pickup)? I am a bit shocked that on all other products and sale items, you can choose any type (Delivery, In-Store, or Shipment) but only 1 for subscriptions.

Thanks so much @Katie_SQ for the response. I have liked and subscribed on that page. Is there an "upvote" button somewhere?

Just realized that Subscriptions aren't available for items that aren't shipped. What a stupid and limiting feature. Why should I have to offer shipping in order to offer subscriptions? It makes no sense. I really hope Square has plans to correct this. Anyone have any workarounds for this?

I agree with you! I am so upset right now that I wasted all of this time setting everything up only to not be able to sell my subscriptions! I will be looking for another platform since I sell frozen beef and can't ship the subscriptions. It would be a headache trying to keep everything organized separately.

Seems to me Square wants addresses for data collection. The fact that they don't have a reason makes me believe its for self serving reasons. Mad about all the wasted time setting up my account!!

Please add my voice to the need for subscriptions to be available for pick-up. This is ridiculous! I spent so much time moving everything over to subscriptions, and then I find this out. Please remedy!

Count me in, too! In addition, when customers are on my Weebly ecommerce site (Square's premium website hosting service) at NumNuts.biz, they can choose a subscription for only ONE item at a time. So if they want a subscription for our mixed nuts and our grain-free granola, they have to enter two separate subscriptions and pay for shipping twice.
What makes it MOST frustrating is that if I go to DASHBOARD -> PAYMENTS -> SUBSCRIPTIONS and then click on Create Subscription, I get a page where I can enter multiple products AND choose whether to include shipping or not. So, the functionality I need is already there! I just need my customers to be able to access a page like this.

At the risk of repeating myself, but I’m doing so because I think some people missed or ignored my earlier memo…. The functionality exists in third-party apps like Submatic. If something is needed right now, there are options other than sitting around waiting and complaining about something that does not exist in Square yet, especially in a product such as Square Subscriptions that is a baby in the Square ecosystem. The App Marketplace is here, and there are a few options, I believe.

I totally agree with the vast majority of comments in this group. It makes absolutely no sense why ONLY shipped items would qualify for Subscriptions. This should have been a no brainer to include local pickup, and delivery items as well. The feature might as well not even exist!

I agree 100%. 95% of my transactions are done in my brick and mortar with a local customer base. Subscriptions hold no value if I can’t use in-store pick up or local delivery as an option.

I tried to just create a default shipping profile for "local pickup only" at $0 but it keeps adding a $30 delivery charge to the cart. WTH? I literally cannot figure out how to adjust the shipping rate to make it work for the subscription. Agree that not having delivery and pickup options with subscriptions is ludicrous, but at least they finally make subscriptions link to the item so you can add modifiers and options.
