Selling digital files that are automatically emailed to purchaser.

Selling digital files that are automatically emailed to purchaser.

I would like to see a feature on square.

I would like to sell downloadable digital files, where an automated email goes out with the file link right after check out.  I would be able to have one more way to have sales in my business.  I am a hypnotist and don't have a way to sell digital files through my website.  I don’t know how to sell digital files through square.

When will Square Online add the feature to automatically send digital files after purchase?

Apparently, never! Their competition just started doing it, I’m going to shop around.

I know a lot of folks here are focused on having this solved in Square, but I do want to mention again that you can do this today with Bitship. Bitship allows you to either bring your own links or upload links directly to our site. We deliver files to your customers within seconds of purchase. We are also working on additional features that will allow you to restrict how many times a customer is able to use the same download link for an item to better protect the products you sell. If you are interested we'd love to chat and help you get onboarded. We have over 100 Square merchants already using Bitship to automate this frequent pain point for digital good sellers.

@Bitship So then another application that I'd have to use and pay for?

I'm starting to think that Square doesn't want us here. They don't have any integrations or set up anything else and they are well aware of how popular this feature is. Unfortunately I'm going to have to move on from here. Maybe another few years maybe never but don't hold your breath for them.

@Simscott I do feel like Square wasn’t prepared for the scaling of online shops and providing enough infrastructure to integrate it. It’s definitely an in-person/store front-centeic platform. It’s hard for me to consider another platform when I can have my full business all-in-one like banking and invoicing, etc 😭 I do wish they’d expand the web features though and making it easier to link with Pinterest and other socials too

Hi

I noticed this thread and people are looking for a solution to sell downloadable digital files on Square, with an automated email containing the download link sent to the customer after checkout. I have a great suggestion for you - check out SendOwl! We just launched an official app in the Square Marketplace with native integration.

SendOwl integrates seamlessly with Square Online, allowing you to sell digital products like ebooks alongside your physical items . Here's how it works:

  1. Upload your digital files (like ebooks, audio, video, etc) to SendOwl
  2. Link the SendOwl digital products to your Square products
  3. When a customer purchases the linked product on your Square site, SendOwl automatically emails them a secure link to access their files

The whole process is automated, so you don't have to manually send out files, no matter how many sales you get . Your buyers will instantly receive their download link upon purchase .

Some key benefits of using SendOwl for selling digital products with Square:

  • Secure file delivery with time-limited download links and PDF stamping to prevent sharing
  • Supports a variety of file types like ebooks, audio, video, software, and more
  • Easy to set up - just install the SendOwl app and link your products
  • Customizable to your branding
  • Helpful features like license keys for software  and the ability to send updates to customers

So in summary, integrating SendOwl with your Square account will allow you to automate the process of securely delivering digital files to your customers via email, immediately after they checkout . It's the perfect hands-off solution for selling ebooks as a hypnotist!

Let me know if you have any other questions about using SendOwl with Square to sell digital products. I'm happy to help!

Best regards,
Matt Wells

I'm so **bleep**ed off at Square.  I've been on this thread since 2018, waiting for Square to live up to its promise of reintegrating digital fulfillment back to their store . . . a feature they removed from Weebly, and have been promising and promising to reintegrate.

Now, this morning, I receive the newsletter from Square's marketing team, announcing the ability to deliver and manage digital products with Square Online . . . only to find out it's a sales pitch to sign and up purchase SendOwl's $18/month hack add-on to my Square account.

Are you telling me Square finally just punted on their promise to return this feature to their own store?  This company is getting less and less reliable, and have apparently quit on their own development.  I've had it.

Got excited to see the email to integrate direct digital fulfilment.. but I'm not going to lie. Seeing that SendOwl charges monthly for this is disappointing. I'm guessing we still have to wait on a free version (if it ever comes). Even Shopify has a couple free, third party apps for direct digital transfer, so this is a little disappointing to see them charge $18 a month. Even Bitship does the same thing, only they are cheaper.... unfortunately, this is a shame.
