Hello All,
I have been using the Square retail application for quite some time and it works beautifully. Efficient to create items and slick payment processing.
BUT...now that I am trying to utilize my online shop I am finding the platform to have many "BUGS" that are making my day to day quite annoying and I am unable to produce a properly functioning online store.
What is concerning is that I see other users who have had similar issues over the last few years and I am wondering why these same issues continue to exist for years on end.
I have run shops out of Shopify and found that platform to be very inefficient which is why I am now trying Square. I am currently playing with the free version but I am realizing immediately that I would never pay for a higher level of Square seeing how impossible it is to get your storefront to match your back end retail creation area. Heck I don't even want to use the "FREE" version right now. Dang.
I WOULD however stick with Square and even level up in the future if these basic needs are fixed....(these are just the few I am running into now while trying to set up a proper online storefront but I am sure I will see others moving forward)
#1. changes made in the retail inventory area are not FULLY synching with the online shop even though it is supposedly "SYNCED" up. I am making items with variations and those variations are not showing up online as choices for the customer. I have tried different methods for hours and even used some other folks work-arounds but nothing makes this simple need function correctly.
#2. Category edits are not showing up properly on the online area.
for example I changed my category from "BOLT fabric" to just "FABRIC" so I could merge another category and streamline my online list but the categories never change in the online shop.
#3. Certain items that are clearly labeled as "BEADWORK" are showing up in the online shop as "floaters" (all items) but are not showing up when you click their category named beadwork. This is just too strange and makes no sense. There is no way for me to figure out why this is happening.
I was a top level buyer / store manager for a large Museum in Minnesota for 11 years and I quit my job because the technology department forced us all onto the Shopify platform which in turn doubled my workload. This is why I immediately turned to Square for my personal business needs.
What I am seeing right off the bat (online speaking) is that this online platform does not do simple things that should be inherent to a fully functioning online store. It could be operator error or some little button that I did not toggle or click but using my intuitive technology skills does not seem to matter either.
Please any help is welcome. Again, I do realize I am using a "FREE" service but
afraid to level up because of all the issues I am seeing with this free version.
thanks for reading. I hope someone who is employed by SQUARE reads this and helps. Had high hopes for this platform and would like to see this all work out.

I wish I could help but the retail to online "sync" is buggy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... and honestly I don't even know what to say about it except it makes life harder a lot of days.
