How does the Square Store work when setting up under our own website domain?

If we were to use our own domain, do we still use the Square templates?

Can we make edits to the page from the Square dashboard?

What is the deal with "upgrading" to use a custom domain?

Does the $99 for a simple page design still apply if we use our own domain, or is that just for a square.site?

Hi there. Yes, you can use a domain you have registered through a third party service with your Square Online website. You will need to upgrade to a Professional hosting plan or higher in order to connect the custom domain. This plan will also allow you to remove any Square branding from the site. You can compare more plan options HERE

You have the option to use 99 Designs for a one page website, but the cost is exclusive to their service. If you also want to connect your custom domain name you would still need to upgrade to one of the available paid Square Online hosting plans. Otherwise, you can build and design the site yourself by clicking the Online Store link from your Square dashboard. You will be redirected to the Weebly dashboard to edit the site and your website store settings. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. 🙂

I have a domain registered already on another server. I upgraded to professional and linked my square store. Now my url comes up 404 PAGE NOT FOUND. Will this reconcile itself? How much time does it take?

Hi @EzraGlass It sounds like your domain is properly pointing to your website with Square Online. You will also want to make sure that the domain is assigned to your site by logging into your account and navigating to the Online Store dashboard.

Changes to the domain dns can take up to 24-48 hours, but as mentioned above, I believe you have already successfully pointed the domain and just need to assign under Website>General Settings>Site Address. 🙂

Thank you, Bernadette.

I followed your response and it is now connected. However, my square shop is all you see on my website. I want to connect my shop to a "shop" page on my website. Should I unlink to my website and use a square domain? Then link the "shop" page to the new square domain?

Do you have a website built on a third party platform? Do you mind posting a link to your website, and to your shop page so I can make sure I'm on the same page as you? Thanks!

We have a website, but no shop page, as of yet. Site: https://www.hrdspirits.com/. I'm a novice when it comes to internet stuff, so I'm still confused about whether or not the square shop page can be built and edited through the online dashboard, even if it is hosted on our webpage?

Yes, @hoodriver You can keep your current website, and create a "shop" page with Square Online. You will manage your main site through the third party hosting service, and create/edit/build your shop page with Square by clicking the Online option on the Square dashboard. You don't need to use the 99 Design service, but it's certainly an option for you if you want. 🙂

@EzraGlass did a great job of combining their already established website with an additional shop site. If you click on their website you'll see they have a shop link in their navigation that opens a new tab in the browser for their Square Online site.

Did you create your current site, and do you have access to edit it?

Thanks again, Bernadette. I have answered my own question. I do have a third party host. Instead of linking my square store to my website I am now using a square domain and will refer to this link from the "shop" page of my website. A simple solution and I don't know why I didn't do this to begin with. All systems are go! Here is the link. Still in development btw.
