How do I change logo size on Square Online?

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "How do I make the logo bigger now?"

I inherited the design of our organization's new Weebly website from someone else and am editing it to conform to our parent organization's requirements. Our parent org's style guide requires that the logo be a minimum of 1.5” or 144px. How can I increase the logo size to meet this requirement?

I have seen references to themes, but don't know what theme is being used or where to change the theme. The Settings just give me the option to change styles. The website is not live - I can't publish it until it has been reviewed. Thank you for your help.

Hey Knickerbockerwm,

Interesting question for sure.

Honestly, I have not encountered a scenario whereas there was a specific requirement for a Logo to be a specific size.

Think about it, there are requirements for graphic sizes depending the web hosting service.  This is standard practice with most hosting sites however, if you want to use what ever size you want, the end results may not be what is expected.

Clearly, what one wants has to be adjusted to what a service will provide - it's basically a compromise.

Hey, it's just my thoughts of course - hopefully others here have some thoughts or a better solution.

Hi @knickerbockerwm .  I was going to post basically the same thing as @JK_Fiber_Art did.  That seems like an odd requirement given that all websites these days are responsive and everything is scaled to fit the device a page is displayed on.  Obviously, a 1.5” logo is going to look very out of place on a small phone screen.

Having said that, you can do two things.  As far as the number of pixels in an image is concerned, you can use a tool like Photoshop to scale images to the correct pixel height and width and then upload those to Square Online.  Of course, that will be scaled depending on the device screen size and there is nothing anyone can do about that.

Also, in Square Online if you click on the logo in the header, you can click the “Edit Size” button and use the slider to adjust the logo size.  Mine is set to the largest it can be relative to the device screen size.

That’s about the best you can hope for.  If I/we missed something critical in your question, feel free to clarify, maybe with a screen shot or something.

That's a good point about the screen size, and I should check with the reviewer on what size screen she is viewing the website. Assuming she means the website view, I am currently working off a 27" iMac and am looking at the website preview on that. I uploaded a 792 × 432 pixels logo to use and enlarged it as much as possible. It is still tiny and looks even smaller floating in the header stretched across the screen. It is even tinier on the mobile screen.

Looks to me like I need to increase the height of the header to allow for a taller logo. How do I do that on a Square website?

@knickerbockerwm Can you please temporarily publish your site, then post your url here so I can give it a look?

 Thanks

Chip

Thank you, Deborah.  So I took your URL and put it into a website code inspector that I have for troubleshooting.  I was able to determine that you are currently using the largest size logo that the Square Online editor allowed using the logo sizing slider in the header editor.  This is a limitation that you are going to have to just accept for the short term.

If you wish, you can head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request to the Online Team to allow more sizing options and ranges.  But be aware this will not be quick and submitting a request only starts an evaluation process.

I’ll add one other thing. There are apps that will allow you to edit and manipulate the size of images. Just search your device’s App Store for image editors. Some are free, some are not.

I did try uploading a larger png file, but the size did not change, unfortunately.

I’m not surprised that a larger PNG didn’t help.  Ultimately, we are constrained by the image size maximums that are specified in the page code.  Once you have the size slider maxed out, that’s it.

I agree that one of the issues is that your logo is wider than it is high.  That only serves to make it seem smaller than it really is.  Since mine is more Square it’s not a good comparison.  For now, I’m pretty sure that you are stuck with what you have until you submit a feature request to the link I mentioned earlier and that is implemented if accepted.

Sorry I couldn’t be of any more help right now.
