Extra pictures showing up on website

I created a website using the free website, I created my first item, everything looked good.  I duplicated the item, made changes, saved the item added it to the featured items on the website, published the page.  The additional pictures are showing up from the original item when I pull up the page in a different tab.  I chatted with support last night, I was told it was an issue with my location, made that change, that didn't work,  I was told that they needed to reindex my account to sync dashboard with website.  Said that would take 2 hours.  Checked this morning and the issue is still happening.  Call support and was told that indexing takes 24 hours and to wait some more.  I feel like I' getting the runaround.  Has anyone experienced this issue?  TIA

It sounds like you're dealing with an issue where the updates you made (like the images) aren't syncing with the website after duplicating and editing an item. Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot:

1. Clear Cache and Refresh the Page:

  • Sometimes, the issue may be related to the browser cache showing outdated information. Try clearing your browser's cache or open the website in Incognito/Private Mode to see if the updated item and images appear correctly.

2. Check Item Link:

  • When duplicating an item, check that the item you're updating is linked correctly to the new product page. It's possible that the changes to the new item are reflected on the dashboard but not on the live site due to a syncing issue.

3. Sync Issues:

  • It seems like there’s been some syncing and indexing happening on Square’s end. If Square Support said indexing would take up to 24 hours, you’ll need to wait for the process to finish. However, if it's been over 24 hours and the issue persists, I’d recommend following up with Square Support and asking them to escalate the matter or confirm that the reindexing is indeed complete.

4. Check for Multiple Listings:

  • When duplicating items, ensure that there aren’t multiple versions of the same item listed by accident on your website. Sometimes, changes in one item may not reflect if another version of it is already published.

5. Try Re-publishing the Website:

  • After making changes and ensuring everything is correct in your item listings, try re-publishing your website. This can sometimes force a full refresh of the site’s content and trigger the updates to appear correctly.

6. Test with a New Item:

  • If the issue seems to be isolated to this specific item, try creating a completely new item from scratch, adding images, and then publishing it to see if it syncs correctly with the website.

7. Re-contact Support with Clear Information:

  • If the issue is still unresolved after waiting for the reindexing, it might be helpful to reach out to Square Support again and mention the specifics of the problem, including that the reindexing process has already been completed, and ask if there are any other actions that can be taken to fix the issue.

Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you for the suggestions.  The reindexing resolved the issue, it just took longer than I was told.
