Category coupon applies to all qualifying items in order

I run a food delivery business. I created a coupon in my Online Store for $3 off items in the lunch category. I set the number available to unlimited because I want the customer to be able to use the coupon on multiple orders (within the set time frame). My customer ordered 3 lunches and entered the coupon. The order automatically received a $9 discount. My intent was for the coupon to only apply once per order, but to be able to be used on multiple orders. Instead it seems to apply on every item that falls within the category.

Am I understanding this functionality correctly? Is there a way to restrict coupons to one use per order?

@DishPlz Thanks for reaching out! The ability to limit the coupon per order AND per item is currently a feature request. I think right now it may be better to limit the coupon to a per order basis to prevent people from stacking the coupon discounts.

I've pushed this feedback forward as well, but as always, please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

Thanks @AshleyK, can you clarify which discount configurations are per item vs per order? These are the options I'm seeing:

@DishPlz you would want "Specific Items" if you are using a discount per item. You would want "All Orders" if you want discounts applied per order.
