Cant turn off low stock alerts

I have looked through every single forum and post in regards to this issue on the internet and finally found the item preference page that shows the number setting and toggle for low stock alerts, but I am unable to turn them off or change the number. I would love to be able to turn the alerts on for specific things but the alerts show up for all items on my site even when the alert is toggled off.

You can do this in your Square Dashboard - Items.   Scroll down on the item you want then turn alert turned on for that item then in the Low Stock Alert click and a new page or pop up will appear.  Scroll down to where you can turn on the Alert again.  Then an additional screen will show up to ask for an alert number.   

This part I am confused with as I am reading you want that you want the alert to show up when you have the alert turned off...

I do not think that is possible since the alert is either on or off with the toggle switch on the item.   Can't be off but still get alerted.

Maybe working with when your notified by the item quantity you can reduce these notifications.
