Adding different shipping profiles to one cart - a way to stop this?
Can anyone help me? Try as I might I cannot figure this out. I don't even know if it is possible..
My default shipping profile is 2.99 for items (item A). Up to now, this item was the only stock I carried.
My new stock (item B) requires a higher rate of shipping, and I have created a custom shipping profile this; 5.99 - it works beautifully when B is the only item type in the cart.
However, when A and B are in the cart, both the default and the custom profile are applied; making shipping 8.98.
How do set it so that the cart defaults to the high rate of shipping when there are items from different shipping profiles? It seems like it should be an obvious thing but I can't work it out.

Hi again @MBM_LJM - Alanah here with a response from our Online Store Team!
They were able to test this out by taking a look at the shipping rate settings in the Online Store Dashboard. When trying to replicate the setup you mentioned, we received the message below. This lets us know that this specific setup would be a feature request within the Online Store at this time.
I’ve shared your feature request with our Product Team, as they are constantly improving our products based on feedback like this. To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input.

Hey @MBM_LJM
I'm assuming you've got your shipping rates setup as Flat Rate and Per Order and a shipping rate for each product?
It's not ideal, but you could switch the rate to by 'by weight' and trick it into only applying one shipping rate in total. This is a work around just until the feature request gets resolved! I also would not use this workaround if you're using the Shippo integration.
You could set item A to be 0 lbs and item B to be 1 lb. Then create a shipping rate that is "Based on order weight" which allows you to set weight categories and corresponding prices. So you could set anything under 1 lb to charge your 2.99 (for item A) and anything over 1 lb to charge your 5.99 (for item B). Since it's all setup under one 'rate' it won't double apply the shipping charges for the customer.
I hope that all made sense!

Thanks, yes it makes sense. I did try tinkering with this, but ran into a few snags (which I’m putting down to the default flat rate) - I’ll try again and feedback. 🙂
