Creating a Marketing coupon for percent discounts for multiple items.
I am having problems creating a Square SMS Text marketing campaign offering a discount for multiple items.
My goal is to create a SMS Text message with a coupon that offers a 10% discount on all cookies purchased in our store (we only have one location and we don’t have a website that takes orders). All the cookies are in one category named “Cookies”. I also have other categories for bulk coffee, drinks, custom orders, etc.
From the Marketing menu I select the Send a coupon option and select Design Campaign.
I enter the text in the Create message box.
No image option, Emojis, or Custom Links were entered
Under Coupon Type I selected Percentage off and entered 10% off
Maximum Value option was not selected
I wanted the 10% discount coupon offer to only apply to cookies.
By selecting the Category option in my example the “Cookie” category the program message indicated the coupon would only be “Redeemable in-store only. Discount applies to the highest-value item in cart for each selected category” If multiple cookies were placed on the order only one of the cookies was discounted 10%, the remaining cookies were marked at full price.
By selecting the Specific item option I had to manually select the 13 cookies I wanted to include from my entire list of items. After malicious selection of the qualifying cookies when I sent myself a test coupon when selecting a list of multiple cookies the 10% discount was only selected for one of the cookies in the list. The same problems as in the category selection.
I have not been able to determine how to create a marketing coupon for a percent discount for multiple items.
I realize I could create a 10% discount for cookies and send out a custom message indicating the discount on cookies in the message. Using this approach I would not know who redeemed the coupon discount which is one of the reasons for having a marketing program.
I hope that someone has discovered a work around to this obvious problem within Square. I have contacted Square support multiple times and not got any success in meeting this straight forward requirement.
In Review
I find the marketing program for designing a campaign is lacking in functionality and ease of use. I will still attempt to use the square marketing program but if I continue to have the number of problems that I have had to self discover I will be looking for other options to help in my marketing.

Hello, @RayHardee.
Thank you for your patience as we investigated this issue further. Following discussions with our Square Marketing team, we can confirm that you have the flexibility to apply this process to each item listed. The system allows you to add more than one item, as shown in the picture below.
However, if this doesn't align with what you're seeking or if you have any other specific requirements, please don't hesitate to inform us. We are more than happy to continue assisting you.
Thank you.

I am having a similar issue with the migration of coupons to marketing. If they just worked how they did in the online portal, it would have been fine. I need a coupon code/ percentage off to come off the ENTIRE CART or category and it only comes off the highest ticket price.
How is this helpful, especially with Black Friday deals coming up?
