Please allow us to set it to earn X points per $ spent on categories to allow us the flexibility to run our business.
Use Case:
Our retail store is forced to currently use a combination of discounting and loyalty rewards and it becomes overly complicated. For example:
We offer 1 point per $1 earned with 50 points to redeem $5 off. A standard 10% off overall.
I WANT to be able to offer 1 point per $1 earned on Balloons, 2 points per $1 earned on solids, 3 points per $1 earned on Seasonal, 5 points per $1 spent on holidays that just passed, ETC.
Currently this is only possible using discounting + rewards because the only way to set it PER category is to assign a point value to each category which is then earned based on number of items and not dollar value.
With the current system they still earn loyalty whenever I discount a product so only offering 40% off because they're getting 10% off of the remaining balance doesn't look as great as if I can say they get 50% back to spend on future purchases and the math becomes wonky.
Double and triple "days" don't work for me because I don't want them getting 2-3X rewards on ALL purchases, just certain categories that I can adjust.
Please understand this is the difference between a successful rewards program and one that few people take advantage of. This would be a huge win-win for Square, retailers, AND customers because not only do you get more revenue as we aren't discounting up-front, but it ensures we have repeat business that typically spends way more than they have in rewards and allows less confusion on discount programs because it can ALL be run through Square Loyalty.
Thank you for your consideration and for coming to my Loyalty Ted Talk.
