Disable loyalty program from site?

I have two stores and a website, all have the same square loyalty program. I’m building a second password protected site for wholesale, where I don’t want them to be able to use the loyalty rewards. Is there a way to remove/disable it just from one site? Or perhaps a customer group as a work around? OR can I exclude items from being included in loyalty point accrual? I had to create all new items for wholesale site.

Hi @aliciavr6.  I think we can achieve what you want.  I’m going to outline the steps here.  Bear in mind that in order for this to work, all of those new items you created must be in their own separate category — item category, not online category.

From the dashboard, go to Loyalty -> Settings.  You’re going to redefine your rules for earning points to accrue points only for the desired categories (hopefully you don’t have a ton of categories!). This might mean splitting up one rule into multiple rules now, one for each included category.

After that, you’ll need to redefine your rewards definitions.  You are probably (?) discounting entire sale now, which won’t work any longer.  Instead you’ll want to “Discount on an Item in Specific Categories,” after which you’ll define the included rewards-available categories.

Lastly, there is one other possibility.  You don’t mention if your wholesale web site is for a second location.  If so, then this would be as simple as going to Loyalty -> Settings and deselecting the second location.  This will disable your Loyalty program entirely for that second location.

Let me know if you need anything else.

This is helpful, thanks. The loyalty settings page says I can exclude items or categories, but the categories don’t show in the “all items” list to be able to exclude them. That’d make it super easy. But I can go through and exclude each variation of a product, it’ll just take a while.

Before you start that process…. What do you mean by “the categories don’t show in the “all items” list to be able to exclude them?” Can you post a screen shot of what you think is missing?

This list where I am able to uncheck items to exclude them. There are no categories in the list.

Interesting.  I don’t have that particular screen available in my settings.  How weird.  Anyway…. For defining rules by category, here are the screen shots of how I got there (First two).  For defining rewards by category, shots #3 and 4 show how I got there.  I hope that helps.

Oh you’re in the actual reward rules. I went right into settings > earning points > eligible items and categories > edit. It did let me exclude the whole category from earning points very easily, thank you! I had to click the “all items” in my previous screenshot on my computer and then it gave me the list of categories.

perfect. There are a few ways to get where you wanted. You might have found the easiest one. Actually I didn’t know that was there so you taught me something! Thanks!
