how to cancel a customers monthly invoice

How do I cancel someone paying an automatic monthly invoice? Could not find any information on how to do that.

You can edit, manage and cancel a recurring invoice or series from your online Square Dashboard, Invoices app and the Square Point of Sale app.


From your online Square Dashboard:


Manage a Recurring Series

Managing a recurring series will impact all recurring invoices in that series.

  1. Go to Invoices from your online Square Dashboard.
  2. Click on the Recurring Series tab.
  3. Click the ‘’ on an active recurring series.
  4. To cancel a recurring series, click End Recurring Series.


Manage a Recurring Invoice

Managing a recurring invoice will only impact a single invoice. To manage the whole series, follow Manage a Recurring Series instructions.

  1. Go to Invoices from your online Square Dashboard.
  2. Click the ‘’ on an active recurring invoice. Recurring invoices will have a status marked Recurring and will follow an ID convention similar to 000001-R-0001.
  3. To cancel a single invoice, click Cancel Recurring Invoice.

Hi Katie,

I could not find "active recurring invoices" under Manage a recurring invoice.

Any ideas?

To confirm, if you follow the steps below, can you see your recurring invoices?

  1. From your online Square Dashboard, navigate to Invoices > Recurring Series.
  2. On the Recurring Series tab, click the ‘’ on an active recurring series listed in this section.
  3. After clicking ‘…’ click View Recurring Invoices.
  4. This should then show you a list of all recurring invoices within that series.
