My account was deactivated for NO REASON

I received an email that my account was deactivated after a security review. I have no knowledge as to why there was a review and I have over a thousand dollars being held and if I don't get it I'll be evicted. Square won't take my call or let me chat support I'm literally feeling abandoned and that square is going to abscond with my hard earned funds. Please help!!!

Hi @Megab.  First, I’m so sorry that you are going through this.  I’m sure it is stressful, and I hope that you find resolution soon.

 

You said “Square won’t take your call.”  Since you posted this on a Sunday night, I’ll mention that the weekend front line phone support people probably aren’t authorized to discuss such matters as security reviews.  The people that can help you are normally available on standard business days — Monday through Friday.  Also, I’ll mention that chat or email support aren’t your best option here.  You need to make the time to do live phone support, only.  I wish chat support wasn’t even a thing, so I never recommend that, especially with matters such as yours.  You’ve got it, but the phone support is here.  

 

Obviously, only a high level Square account person can give you details.  But I can speak to one thing I know for certain.  If any of that “over a thousand dollars being held” is tied to transactions that Square (or a card processor, or the customer’s bank) has determined are suspicious transactions for whatever reason, there is a good chance you won’t get that money.  Square will not “abscond” with your “hard earned funds” but they are required by law and by regulation not to pass on funds that are deemed or suspected to be suspicious.  

 

One thing is certain.  You won’t know until you talk to someone at Square.  Once their business hours have started today, you should get on the phone with them.

It doesn't make sense they can just decide something "looks" suspicious and then not honor the payments? I called during the week last week as well and I get a recording that plays and no option to talk to customer service at all. The customer in question told me they didn't flag the transactions and they never received anything from their bank that there was any problem and the transactions all are showing posted not "pending". It's very disheartening and I'm contacting a lawyer to see if they can assist me in getting more info at the very least
