How long before a check deposit goes into my square checking account mine are still pending

I think it is utterly ridiculous that Square is waiting a full six days to deposit my check. I fully understand that the bank that Square partners with is the one who makes the rules and regulations but this needs to be revised. No other bank makes you wait six days to deposit your check. So please stop telling people its 1-6 days because it’s not, it’s 6 days period. Square needs to understand people need their money.

Why does it want to deposit a check in the Square account? It’s been pending for six days now!

I moved your post over to this thread where other Sellers have brought up this topic.
I also pulled the following information from this article. You will find some links that may help clarify.
Your bank lets you know when the check arrives in your account. Just like a physical check, you may experience a hold. If you’re a Square Banking customer, you can expect to see the funds in your account several business days after deposit.
If it is taking longer than you expected for your check to deposit, there could be several reasons for it, such as frequent overdrafts in your account, the deposit of a very large check, or simply the time that the bank is taking to validate a check. To be safe, it is a good practice to hold on to the physical check for around two weeks while you wait for confirmation of funds in your account.

Yeah I have the same issue, I am 4 days into a LOCAL CHECK on a MAJOR BANK showing pending. The irony that credit card sales can be spent in less than an hour this delay seems outrageous. The only answer is they do it to prevent fraud. The same reason Upgrade “bank” won’t even let new customers deposit checks until you have $2,000 in direct deposit funds.

You have no idea how true this is. As a independent contractor who has used square for over a year. I agree and 100 percent back that this 6 day waiting B.S. it is never 1-6 its always 6 no matter how small or how big the check is. This platform is a joke.
Why not deposit at your local branch of the bank you have your main business checking account with? If square is your only business checking account, well yeah. I think it’s justified they wait the full 6 days because not everyone does “legitimate” business. Not having a reputable business checking account, with a bank that has local branches is definitely at the top of the red flag list.

To me, you not understanding why predictable cash flow might be important to a business is a bigger “red flag” that you haven’t run a “legitimate business.” If Square wants to sell us on invoicing, they should be able to clear checks faster. Literally while I’m waiting for a check to clear, Square has made loan offers much larger than the check. And again, the last, larger, check from this client had funds made available immediately and had no issue clearing.

Then deposit at local branch, where you business checking account is… It will be cleared same day. There’s your predictable cash-flow.

I just mobile deposited my check in square and I am truly regretting it reading all these comments. I need my money asap and to wait 6 days I absolutely cannot do it and there is no way to stop the processing so SQUARE literally has me stuck. Sad part is my check was expedited to me and I thought surly using square would deposit in a day or two but no it is still pending. Square please release MY money so I can pay my bill.

Square always holds checks for the max amount of time. I can never understand why? My personal bank clears within a day sometimes immediately. Maybe just paying the extra for a business account with them would be a better option than using square to cash my business checks anymore. This is really a ridiculous practice. This company makes a lot of money off me for invoicing, card processing fees, bank transfer fees and everything else. No one has time to wait weeks for a check to clear.
Hello I’m getting really frustrated I’m new to square my account has already been suspended but I have pending payments this situation has been going on since May 22 I turned in all of the documents that were requested and the account was still suspended and my payment never deposited into my account but I can see the payment saying pending when will my funds be released?
Square, do you have any intentions of speeding up your check deposit feature anytime soon? I use multiple banks, and it's been years...I mean years...since I've had to wait 6 days for a check to be available. I understand there are probably issues that force you to hold these funds longer than a bank, but I'd like to know if there are plans in the future to modernize this process and it get it up to speed with other banks, who generally allow at least some of the funds to be available immediately. Chase, for example, allows $500 immediately, then by the next day or so, all other funds are available.
I understand you will give me a link to an article that explains the time frames that can be expected. I have read it and do not wish for that to be the answer here. Do you have plans to update your check deposit feature to be faster anytime soon? I need to know this, as I am going to remove the option to pay by check from my clients, and I'd prefer for it to be temporary.

Recently funds from
checks deposited had been showing up immediately, like card payments do, but a check I deposited over the long weekend is stuck in pending. I’ve never had a check returned, and it’s a check from a repeat customer whose previous checks (for larger amounts!) were never pended. Very frustrating and dumb.
