Prepayment option to book

I'm wondering who has enabled the option that clients have to prepay for their appt in order to book. I'm having a few people cancel and not pay my cancelation fee. I do not require a card on file. But I'm seriously thinking about requiring full prepayment for the services they want to be able to book with me. Does anyone else do this? What are the pros and cons? How has the response been from clients? Good or bad?
