Gross Sales/Reports not going under stylist's names

I just talked with Squarer for over an hour. We have a hair salon with 14 stylists. We have one receptionist to check them all out throughout the day. When a client checks out the sale is being attributed correctly within payroll to the stylist earning the commission. However, when that stylists goes to their sales reports to see if they're meeting goals or what their next paycheck may be like nothing is there. We figured out this is because those reports are pulled from who is checking them out (the receptionist). I imagine it would be a pretty easy fix on Square's end to allow for the sales reports to also go under who the sale is attributed to. It is not realistic for the receptionist to log out and log back in under stylists code every time there are people checking out.

Hi @WarehouseSalon.  You are correct in your assumption about what is going on.  In Square, sales are attributed to the person who closes the transaction — in your case, your receptionist.  Other sellers have submitted feature requests to change this behavior, or to give them options, but currently what you see is what you get.  Whether or not it is realistic, you only have two options to ensure correct reporting:

  1. Either your stylists checks each of their customers out, or
  2. Your receptionist must have a list of all stylist codes and must sign in “as” that stylist to close the transaction.  You can make this faster by setting the POS setting that always asks for a PIN after every close transaction, if you want.

Normally, I’d suggest you submit a feature request to the POS team.  But that’s already been done.  Square is aware that some sellers need this flexibility already.  Maybe one of the moderators can find that open feature request and post its link here so that you can upvote/support it.

Regards,

Chip

Thank you for your reply. You are correct as those are the only options, both incredibly inconvenient and feels like a fix that would be a game changer for a lot of businesses that pay Square a lot of money to only have very limited functionality. Thanks again for chiming in and I hope they are able to make this change by end of year or I will certainly be looking into other POS systems that make more sense.
