Discount Codes to be used when booking an appointment online

I'd like to offer a special for clients for booking online, but there is no option for them to enter in a discount code when booking their appointment. This would be an essential asset to business marketing, promotions and bookings. It's important to have pre-paid booking options, but if i want to offer a discount, there doesn't seem to be any way to do this

Discounts, Gift cards, and payment options for services

Talking with a rep yesterday I learned that the services (which I use for my healthcare practice linked to my online appointments via desktop), does not have the option for coupons, gift cards, or payment options like Afterpay.

I was trying so hard to figure it out because I could see the coupon I generated for "items" and on the square app (for manually entered appointments).

Please work on including these much needed features!! thank you.

WOW, finding this thread really opened my eyes on how LONG this feature has been requested and Square done nothing... more than 4 years... 

Not only discount coupons are essential for appointments but also there is no option for gift cards which are also sold by Square Online... but can't be used on Appointments? Doesn't make any sense right?

 

We sell skateboarding lessons, and a lot of people want to give them as gift cards for Christmas and Birthday, but they can't use the option to book online like everyone else, they need to call us and we have to block the slot with no payment, hoping they will show up to be able to charge the gift card or apply a discount in person when they arrive. 

 

I am tired of waiting for this to change... the recent new updates in Square have been so useless, at least for my business, and this essential feature still missing... I feel like the only solution is to look into moving to another software...

While it is possible to apply a discount to a service when charging a client in-person for a service using the Square Point of Sale app, it's currently not possible for your clients to use a discount or coupon code when booking an appointment using your Appointments booking site - this is being tracked as a feature request at this time.

Currently there isn't a way for your customers to use coupons or promo codes for Appointments booked from your online Appointments booking site. We're tracking this feature request! 

 

In the meantime if you use Square Marketing to send customers coupons you can apply those coupons at checkout from Appointments app. (And you can create a discount and apply that at checkout when your client arrives for their appointment.)

Has there been any progress on this feature request? This would be extremely helpful in promoting my business. I'm surprised that this isn't available yet.

 

Has anyone found any workarounds for this?

Rather than getting over enthusiastic replies about how great it would be to get the feature from Square reps I'd like to hear from square directly about why, after 6 years, this feature is still not available. 

Genuinely about to switch to Wix because I can't offer a discount code for appointments. Absolutely mental IMO.

All I can say is just switch to Acuity (which Squarespace bought awhile back). You'll find everything you need there.

Why is this still not a thing!? The fact that you can give out discounts on items but not appointments is INCREDIBLY annoying!!!

The work around that I've found is this:
Turn on Business must accept or decline all appointment requests in the appointment settings.

Before you accept an appointment, add the discount manually for them.

 

BUT this is not the best form and hard to communicate to customers.

@JJ_ So it has been over a year and still nothing. I am really getting tired of Square promising features that are so basic and fundamental and not implementing them YEARS after they have been suggested. Time for me to look into other booking sites 🙄

 

 

It’s frustrating when you create a discount for clients to then have them unable to use them because the booking software doesn’t offer a place to put it in. There also isn’t a way to add the discount if you have the settings set to accept payment ahead of time. 

@Kassi_ After booking an appointment online, customers are presented with this:

But they can't use gift cards to pay for booking appointments online. 
 
I've had a number of clients ask me about this feature and I always have to tell them it's not possible. They then either have to get over it or move to another platform, neither of which is good. 
 
Could y'all please add this feature? It would make Square more cohesive to have everything be able to use the same gift cards, including Square Appointments.

2023 and still no ability for clients to use coupons codes or gift cards online when booking an appointment. I'm a software engineer by trade. I will happily jump on for free just to add this feature, because clear the devs hired don't know how. Just let college kids help, something. Gloss Genius and the others are looking more attractive every day that simple things aren't available, but stuff no one wants is added. We can't even add a credit to someone's account 🤦🏽‍♀️

This would be a great feature to drive forward business and see who actually looks at and uses discount codes.
