Block Clients

Block Clients

We really need the ability to block certain clients from scheduling.  No just declining them. There are those finding ways around the decline by utilizing another email address etc. Thank you

Re: Block Clients

This forum doesn't seem to work getting this feature to the proper channels. It for the customer to feel like they are getting some where but they are not. Maybe start to go to twitter and call them out because at this point Square has shown that they are NOT for solo practitioners and their safety! It has been YEARS of this now. YEARS!!! 35 pages of this request up to this point.  Look into GlossGenius for booking if you are a esthetician or massage therapist.

Re: Block Clients

Agreed! This has been one of the features missing. I used to use an online booking system that allowed you to toggle or “turn off” booking ability for that client specifically. I typically don’t have an issue with clients booking online but when they are not a fit with my business anymore and can’t respect my time, it’s necessary. This is a feature that is needed, regardless of no show protection being in place.

Re: Block Clients - Status changed to: Has Product Insight

Hi all 👋 Apologies for the delayed response here but I have returned with some insight from the Square Appointments Product Team! I'll share what they've told me below:

"We don’t have a specific feature for this yet but it’s on our roadmap this year. H
owever, many of our Appointments Sellers are already enrolled in Risk Manager, and can use the Risk Manager’s “Block payment cards” feature to block buyers from booking if the Seller has prepayment or no-show turned on. Unfortunately, there isn’t a good way to block clients from booking if the Seller doesn’t use prepayment or no-show, but this is on our radar for this year."

To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input! 🙂

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hi @mikethebarber

Nothing new to report on this at the moment, but it seems to be gaining more interest lately so hopefully we can figure out a way to help with situations like this.

One workaround that you can use would be to switch the Reservation Guarantee in your Appointments Settings to "Business must accept or decline all appointment requests".

This allows you to have more control over who actually books up time slots on your calendar.

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hey there @UrbanShaveSD

Thanks for sharing this feedback. I can totally see where this feature would be useful for difficult clients and I'll share your feedback with the Appointments team. I've moved this to the Feature Request board where we can track this request.

This would be an amazing feature.

Hi, I’m thinking about switching over from Vagaro to Square but my biggest problem is I need to be able to mass block customers or block new customers because I have reached my max customer base. The problem with accepting or declining each customer is that some customers will not respect and listen to the decline notification that they get. One incident I had I declined somebody because it went against my policy of online booking. I declined their appointment, but they still ended up showing up anyway because they didn’t listen or respect decline message. Or maybe did not get the declined notification message. Therefore they still showed up that is a big problem, and as a safety issue for businesses when having to face the customer telling them why they were declined and experiencing potential backlash. If they were to not book an appointment and was blocked completely, they probably would’ve not showed up because it wouldn’t have went through. Please make this change for the safety of businesses and also it makes it easy for us to discern who is appropriate for a businesses and who is not people don’t understand we don’t have to take everybody. This is the only thing that is keeping me from switching so once this is done and there is an option for this, I will go ahead and switch over fully but until then I will stick with the vagaro because you can block each individuals accounts from booking online. which helps out a lot, but it would be nicer for a mass block list available. I hope this helps change square in the future because it is such a good system. I do have the POS and take payments but as far as the online appointments I would like to fully switch over. With the advanced technology of our time this shouldn’t be a hard to add or switch, it’s very simple especially with all the fees that each person pays for I’m sure square has enough money to be able to make these changes to better our businesses and experiences, and I think majority of customers would appreciate it.

Edited to add---((WHAT THE HECK? I just went back in to use it, after marking them as "no-show", and it is gone. Now I'm questioning my own sanity.))

Has it finally been added, at long last?!? I just went into a customer record (someone who just no-showed for the third time) and under the three dots above their name, it now has "Block" as an option!

@BandWright i was literally so excited! Maybe they are testing it out? We can only pray. I’m honestly thinking of switching just due to not having this feature

I checked to see...there is no option to block 🤬🤬🤬

We use Square for our restaurant. We've be able to somewhat successfully block some problem customers from placing online orders using the risk manager function. Its a pretty convoluted way of "Blocking" someone and there has to be a transaction that I can look up (so don't know if it would work for customers who no show but don't get charged for a service). Also customers can get around it by just using a different email, and then can technically still place an order in person if they wanted to.

It is hard to remember every client that you need to decline when the request comes through.  You cannot see the notes we make!  You do not want them to take space on your calendar and then charge the card....We need the option to block them.  It is the only thing that makes sense.

For the love of God, add a block feature.  Your blocking options are not feasible options.  It's not fair to make every barber in a shop accept or decline appointments,  not is it feasible to require every customer to put a credit card on file.  We should be able to block and email and phone number for someone abusing and stalking barbers with 1000s of fake appointments.

 INSANE. Day after day.

I'm hoping this feature comes soon. It's unreasonable to request an approval to every single appointment when it's only for one or two clients. We have a no-show policy, but unfortunately I cannot enforce this if their card declines when it comes time to charge the cancelation fee.
