Add Ons for Appointments

Add Ons for Appointments

Hello there,

Is there any chance of an option to use add ons for appointments being in the works? For instance, the customer selects the service on the first part of the form, then goes to add ons for that service before the customer info form.

The current possible work around for this is to have 10s and 10s of drop down options with various combinations of add ons, which is not only tedious to set up, but a bad and confusing UX for the customer.

It's not only a chance to upsell for us, but will inflate the transaction amount to increase Square's revenue, and it would undoubtedly steal users away from a competitor (I won't name them so this doesn't appear as an advert) which only has paid options, but offers this feature.

Square is better than them in every way, but it's really hard to justify using it when it's missing this feature which would leave too much money on the table.

I saw a post on here from 2019 where there were several posts saying this was being looked at or in development, but can't find anything on the topic so here I am.

Re: Modifier not displaying?

Thanks for your post, @trose86!

Currently, service modifiers cannot be applied by customers who book online. I’ve gone ahead and moved your post to an existing thread where we are currently tracking this Feature Request. As soon as we have an update from our Product Team, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Right now, service modifiers can be used in the following ways:

  • Appointments App - Add to Existing Bookings: You can add service modifiers to an existing booking by editing the appointment from the Calendar section of the Appointments app.
  • Appointments App - Create New Bookings: You can add service modifiers when creating a booking directly from the Calendar section of the Appointments app.

In the meantime, if you'd like to offer different bookable options for clients using the Appointments online booking flow, you may want to set up variations instead.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help here, but please let me know if you have any other questions!

Re: Add Ons for Appointments

I came to the feature request today hoping to find someone also looking for this add on feature that would reflect on our booking pages.

We are a nail salon and I would like to share why the add-on feature is so important for us, and would cut down on a lot of booking errors & extra communication. These are the questions we currently HAVE to ask our clients AFTER they send in a booking request online, which kinda defeats the purpose of making it easier on our team (not complaining too much though, it's awesome to have a pending request and some info then no online booking at all.)

Example: Shelly books a manicure

(we have 6 variations) (3 tiers & lacquer/gel)

Client must weed through to see if they want tier 1/2/or 3, then they have to select the right option that is gel or lacquer.

It would be nice if the client just had the tier options to decide on THEN the add on would be GEL.

This would mean we have 3 service tiers instead of 6.

Currently our options are

Tier1 mani lacquer

Tier 1 mani Gel

Tier 2 mani lacquer

xxx

(We also have this for pedicures so its the same thing AGAIN! (Adding to a long list of services)

The next set of options which they must book separately are the removals of gel, nail art add ons, extended massage, any repairs, the list goes on and on.

As you see it not only changes the price of the service but also the TIME of service, and needing to add this on separately leaves room for a lot of mistakes or loss of money.

Currently if our team does not go back and call to confirm every single appointment we will have clients come in booked for a tier1 manicure with lacquer wanting to get a "tier1 manicure with gel add on plus gel removal, plus nail art, plus extended massage" without us ever knowing from online booking.

We always have little reminders on the description to book removal but as most know, not everyone reads the fine print.

I feel as there are other platforms that integrate this well into their system (like user above I don't think it's important to mention them)  it is a great feature for appointment based business.  This helps with ease of booking experience for the client as well as giving the business a much more organized service option. When clients have add on features with a click of ONE button, it makes it easier without then needing to go back to the main screen to find the add on that they want.

With this reply today I will be adding a request for customization of service time per different service providers since there are different tier skill levels in our salon, with the option of also changing the price of service according to the expertise of the provider.  IE master nail tech vs Jr nail tech vs apprentice service.

No matter when this request will finally be integrated: I want to mention that I believe its incredible to see so many businesses needing the same features, it means we are all growing and learning how to utilize this amazing system and now seeing how we can really use it even better. I want to thank og @Glootz for taking the time to put this request in. Like you, I also did a bunch of searching from previous forums, and am patiently kindly waiting.

@SleepyOwlSpa Can you tell me what you don’t like about vagaro? I was looking into switching to them today because of the add on issue and also a few other problems with square.

@stormlover they upped their pricing. And they lowered the standards of large business vs small business. They charge even MORE and have different credit card fees if you fall into their "large business" standard. Which use to be 5k or more in credit card transactions. Now it's only 4k or more in credit card transactions. They've gotten greedy, in my opinion. I can see them making more and more adjustments like this that go under the radar, then you're paying 10$more a month here and there. And suddenly credit card fees go up here or there.

@SleepyOwlSpa I would recommend you check out Acuity Scheduling.

@kat_bowling thank you, I will definitely look into it!

Also look at bookeo, it has demos. So far from Square Appts. to  Squarespace (Acuity) to Bookeo. The only thing coming from the others that works with time intervals vs according to the service durations, but with all the other needed features and for the price makes up for it.

Just adding on to this thread in hopes square will listen!

I'm a photographer and this feature will help tremendously for clients to add props, smoke bombs, etc. to their session. Like most on here i dont understand why you guys aren't adding this as a feature besides trying to push us to use acuity scheduling, but you already have the bass for this add on feature MODIFIERS all you have to do is allow the modifiers to be seen by the clients in the appoinment process.

Please be different from all the other companies and listen to the requests from the people that are making you money!! Prolonging things only turns us away.

4 years. Doubt its coming anytime soon

Wanna keep bumping this thread for exposure.

Yes, I need add-ons to be bookable online when clients book appointments. This WILL increase revenue, because a lot of clients like to add while booking because they don't feel as much pressure or feel like they are being "sold" to. The modifier feature already exists, just add it to online booking.

Hello -

I'm working on my new site, and I've created a couple Services and a Modifier I'd like to use.

However, when I select the chosen Service through the booking system, the modifier is never given as an option to select.

Has anyone else experienced this or know a solution?

I have made sure that the Services have the modifier
