Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there an option to create categories in Appointments? I have a rather long list of services and don't like that my clients have to scroll through everything to get to what they want. If not, is it a feature coming soon?

Thanks!

Re: Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

So, there is a way to do this, but it requires embedding the list on your own website.

In appointments, under online booking, website embed:

"View Advanced Options" button

"Create New Widget for [your company name]"

Give this widget a name - location, day of the week, etc. Whatever will help you know what is in the list.

You can select what staff are able to be booked - so you could limit it per location

You can select which services are to be included

Save

Now you will see the widget in the "Saved Custom Widget" list.

Click view the online booking page will open displaying only the staff and services you selected.

You can copy the link URL and either send it to clients, make a link on your business website, or embed the entire widget into your site. You can even embed several widget on the same page of your website to split up categories, dates/days, location, staff, etc, keeping all services on one page, just organized by categories. Or you can devote seperate pages to specific items/staff/etc. I created a google sites (in google drive) website to try this out. works beautifully with a google site. I haven't tried it with any other site yet.  It molds right into your webpage and keeps viewers on your site and not moving to the appointments page and missing all the other content on your website.

I hope this helps those that are really struggling with the need to have this all categorized and organized better. If you have any questions about what I've done here, please ask.

Re: Appointment Categories?

I see how that would be super useful, especially when you have a wide range of services offered under one roof. We don't have that option right now but we'll announce any updates as soon as they're available.

Sounds like its time to find another booking app. Sooo disappointed.

Is there a way to change the services for online booking to grid format?

I've been asking this for years, this should be such an easy fix and I know there are so many others out there that need this feature. I've seen threads that go back to 2016 on this..Why can we not group/categorize services on the display side of things on the booking site? No one wants to look through a gigantic list of services to choose from. Yet, that's the only option.

I would also like this option, seems very simple as we can already create categories in services, why not be able to apply that over onto the appointment side?

Hello! I have created services that have their own categories; but I noticed the clients can not see the categories on my web page. Is there a way clients can choose a category then choose their desired service or is the category feature only for me to see on my end?

How frustrating that Square doesn't keep up with community inquiries on baseline functionality. One alternative available here is to use Variations for service items. That effectively collapses the list, although I have yet to review some of the sales reporting to make sure I get the level of detail I need when going this route.

I have created two categories: Products & Services on my home page.

The Products in the Items Library they show up in the Products category just fine.

BUT, I have spent days trying to get my services in my Service Library to show up in the Services category. What the heck am I doing wrong??

Square seems to hiding the fact that this can NOT be done. I have received some very vague instructions but the links they say to follow are NOT there. See the example below... In appointments, under online booking, website embed.

There is no "Website Embed" it has been removed with NO explanation and apparently their support team does not know either. After 7 days of setting up my website I am now moving to a different platform, since I need booking services to be the primary function.

Are you looking to display your service categories on your booking site? If so, we never hid that fact that this can't be done. In fact, Helen, a Community Admin, mentioned this in the thread as well as several other threads.

If you're looking for the embed feature, Valentina points you to the right page

Let me know if I'm understanding your post correctly.

@Jesthetics

Since I posted about this in the past (I will paste a revised version of my instructions below), the appointments page has changed and some things are labeled differently or are in different menus. I still use the embed method and it's still an option under Appointments.

My previous message was: (but now edited)

In appointments, under online booking, website embed Custom widget

"View Advanced Options" button

"Create New Widget for [your location name]" These are per location, but you could add multiple location items as individual widgets on one webpage.  From here on the instructions are the same.

Give this widget a name - location, day of the week, etc. Whatever will help you know what is in the list.

You can select what staff are able to be booked - so you could limit it per location

You can select which services are to be included

Click view the online booking page will open displaying only the staff and services you selected.
