Feature Request: Schedule classes + group sessions + multiple clients during one time slot

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Use Square Appointments to schedule classes or group sessions?

 

Has anyone successfully used Appointments to schedule classes taught to clients/gneeral public?  Looking for tips. Thanks!

The ability to book group sessions or an appointment for multiple people is one of our most popular feature requests. I went ahead and moved your post over to this thread to prevent duplicates.

 

We do not currently have an ideal workaround to suggest. Square Appointments right now isn't optimized for group classes, events, etc. For your business, I may suggest that you use our Square Online Store instead. You will be able to list items as Events, and then sell tickets to the events per person so they can select a quantity:

We don't currently offer class or group booking with Appointments - certainly a popular request and I know how helpful it would be for you (and many others.) 

 

For now the only workaround I can suggest would be scheduling overlapping sessions for each client in the group/appointment. However, it's only possible for you to create overlapping appointments manually on your calendar, so this isn't something your customer's could book.

Thanks for your patience while we work to expand the features in our Appointments app. We'll definitely let you if a better solution is available in the future.

Is there a way to add blocks? For example I would like to have three appointments at the same time available. I'm a dog groomer so three people show up at 8am with their dogs, and I have a few hours to complete them. Is there any way to add blocks for the same time? I'm searching all over but can't seem to find anything!

Don’t you folks know by now we must have a bunch of programs that aren’t sure how to do things because we are smart and learn to work around what does that tell you??? Iv been with square from the day one and nothings has changed. Wait for the Big Bang when they do get it right the price will sky rocket. 

@tavera If I understand you correctly,  I think you just need to change your appointment settings to allow double booking. With that on you can accept several appointments for the same or different services at the same time.  I popped some extra appointments on my schedule to show you.

I book slots for one or two people at a time. How can I allow class-like bookings for 2 people (so if one books, it remains open for another person?)

I'm very interested in this feature. I looked at a few competitor products who do this very well, but aren't quite as polished as square elsewhere. I'll probably have to switch to them if this feature isn't added in the near future.

This seems like an easy feature to add - just add a "allow multiple bookings" option for each timeslot, then add a "maximum concurrent booking" option.  At least for my use case, where I only need to book 1-3 people in a timeslot.

I know this is super popular, but I want to request classes. I use square for everything and it would be so great to be able to use appointments too. 

I've set up a class that has a maximum occupancy of 12 people and tested out the signing up process. The problem I've run into is that when I, as a fake customer, am scheduling this class/appointment, it only lets me schedule for one slot out of 12. When I press on the calendar, it shows the times of course, and how many spots are left. Once I've chosen the time I get the "continue", "add time", and "recurring" options. I learned that in order to schedule more than one slot, you need to press the "add time" button. But is that the only way to do this? Is there no setting or option that lets the client choose the number of people are in their group/how many slots they'd like to schedule? As it is now, or as far as I can see, it's not very intuitive for new customers. I'd never even know you could schedule more than one slot if it wasn't for me exploring everything.

While this isn't currently possible, it is a very popular feature request, @KWA808.

 

I've moved your post over to the thread where others are asking for the same capability, and @isabelle has provided a way to accomplish the set-up of an event like this using your Square Online website.
