How to change personal name not business name?

I need help with this too, but the only option I can find under "Personal Information" is to change my business name. I have a typo and would like to correct It without having to start over with my online shop, etc.

Unfortunately you aren’t able to edit the legal name you used to activate your Square account. If you'd like to fix a typo with your activation name, you'll need to create a new Square account.

 

Fortunately the activation name is not public facing in any way.

I agree!! Please allow for a way for the owner to change their legal name. I have been divorced for a few years now and I really do not like seeing my ex's last name on my account. Please assist!!

Square!????! Are you listening?? Your customers need to be able to do a simple name change. We've been asking for YEARS! Those who get married, divorced, have a typo, whatever the reason, it needs to be fixed!!

Wow. This is archaic. You mean to tell me that I have to take the time to close my account and then re-open a new one? Why wouldn't I just change to a different provider altogether since it's the same amount of effort? Maybe it's time I take another look at your competitors...

Yep, I posted at least a year ago and others posted years before me. They truly DO NOT CARE about this issue. Such an easy change too. 

Very disappointed I can't change my last name. Don't understand why it's sp hard to allow a legal name change! I cringe everytime I see my old last name which I have successfully changed on everything else I have but Square! I was excited to see you finally offer a debit card. Now wondering what last name it would be in??

Yep this is now the new issue they have to deal with.  Give us all a square card now which is great, I was all ready to order one untill I saw my old last name on the card during setup.  And here we are not able to change it for us.  So now I can't get the card because it wont match a single other form of identification for me.  I read back to 2017 with this being an issue and it still isn't resolved 2 years later.  Unreal!

Can't even order one of the new debit cards because when you go to customize card it fills in your legal name, which is no longer my legal name. Why would they come out with a debit card before fixing something so easy?

@EJ_ where is Square on this?? Customer's have been asking for YEARS while being stonewalled by Square.

Hey @Incrediblebchwd, thanks for surfacing this issue and really sorry to hear about the trouble this is causing. For privacy and security reasons, I can't access account-specifics in our online forums—although, our Customer Success Team can certainly take a closer look into the Square Card status.

 

If you haven't already, please send them an email or give them a call. From there, a team member will be able to offer more clarity. Hope this helps get things moving in the right direction.

I absolutely agree..  I am very upset as well and thinking of switching.
