How can I add a negative modifier?

How can I add a negative modifier?

I want to add a modifier that will decrease the price. How can I do this?

+1 for a negative modifier here, as well. Hoping all these +1s might amount to Square actually doing something, considering this is a day simple function, as previously noted.

(Despite the location of this post, I'm actually not in the food and beverage industry, but still do very much need this to make my checkout process more efficient.)

Hey, @Faedri thank you for sharing this feedback. I really hear the importance of this, so I will keep your post in this thread for better tracking, but we do offer Conditional Discounts that will automatically apply a discount to specific items/groups of items once they are added to the cart.

I think this could be a good fit for you as a workaround to a negative modifier. Please take a look at this Community post and let me know if this fits what you are looking for in a negative modifier: squ.re/conditionaldiscounts

You can get started in creating/testing if conditional discounts is a good fit for you under Discounts on your Square Dashboard when you toggle on "Auto Apply to Items and Categories."

Conditional discounts are great.  I started using them this week.  However it would be nice if they did not report in the gross sale.

I played around with the conditional discounts but it still doesn't quite work for me.  I have art prints that I sell in different sizes (Small, Medium, Large). I only apply my discount of "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" to the Large prints. I tried conditional discounts and it applies the discount to any size of a particular product. I can't tell it to just apply it to one variation of a product. The only way around it would be if I created a duplicate of the product and just had it as Large which would just double my catalog size and make it time-consuming for the customer in a checkout scenario.  Any suggestions to this issue would be welcome. Thank you.

You can apply the conditional discounts to only on variation of products.  When you are selecting the products to apply it to, select the blue arrow and it shows each variation.  Select only the large print.

@MichiganFarmsta @AshleyK With your help, I managed to make it work so thank you both! 💕

+1 on negative modifiers here too.

+1 for negative modifiers here too!!! Big time. I have used many other web platforms and always had the ability to use negative modifiers. Here is why we need it:

Client is selling retail merchandise, in this case the modifier is length of chain options for pendants. The default choice is always 18", but she offers 3 other lengths. Pricing for items is based on the 18" standard because it is the most popular. I need to be able to modify the 16" length to be -$1.00, and then the others are +$2 and +$6.

The only work around is to price for the 16" as it is the lowest value, but she absolutely does not want to set it up that way.

PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE! Thank you for your time...

I would recommend set up variation for the item. You could also set the item up to sell my decimals. Both can be done under the edit item area of Square.

For example, my small cup is $2.99, medium $3.99, and large $4.99.
