Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Multi-Location Inventory - All locations use same inventory

Is there a way to have multiple locations use the same inventory? We sell orders from several locations and need to track by location, but the inventory comes from the same stock. Aside from assigning a certain amount of inventory to each location, and likely having to shuffle the inventory around within square, and possibly thinking we are out and ordering more when there's plenty in the inventory of another location... Can certain items be assigned from a central inventory stock and other items be location specific?

I'm not seeing this is possible now, but is it something being considered?

I'm using Square POS, not retail. I believe retail has a more robust inventory system, but retail is just far more in general than we need.

Any update on this feature request?  We need this desperately too, we own a brewery and have merchandise inventoried in our taproom but we take merch to beer fests and use a mobile square terminal that is set as a different location (for sake of clocking employees in and out and tipping correctly) and when we sell merch off-site we want it to take from our total inventory - including the online store orders...

I have a very similar situation.

I make all my products in a single commissary kitchen and then have several pick up locations.  It would be great if I could have one central inventory where products are accounted for so that I don't have to "guess" what each pick up location's inventory might be from week to week.

Hello @elmobakingco,

Thank you for posting in the Seller Community.

We definitely hear you out on being able to link inventory to one central location or system. Our teams are constantly looking through our seller's feedback to make necessary improvements, and we will be sure to let you know if anything ever changes or if new updates are released.

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Sync stock across multiple locations

I have two online stores and I want them to share the same stock, but they have different delivery fees and days so I was told I should set up two different locations.  However, it now looks like I can't sync stock across these two locations.  Is there a way to make it so that I can do that?

I have multiple locations with shared 'stock' because there are digital downloads and classes, but even though I have items that appear in both locations, the inventory tracking is per location.  I have not found a way to share the inventory counts between them.

I have the same request. I had an item that the qty was 31 but still showed out of stock on the website and app. I kept messing with it and realized it was because of the 2 locations (mobile and storefront). I tried combining the inventories and it instead deleted my entire mobile inventory (over 100 unique products with descriptions, modifiers, variations, qtys... and now its all gone, replaced with 6 items. Hundreds of hours of work gone during the holidays... this is horrible design flaw. I loved this app until this happened, but may use another program as this is not acceptable. I am beside myself how quick all of my information was lost.

Oh no!  I really hope Square does something to make this a possibility!

When will there be an update that will allow two different inventory items to pull from one master  inventory item? We sell craft vinyl in a DIY retail store. We sell it in 12x15 sheets, 1 yard and customers have the option of having it cut to custom lengths (5 yards, 10 yards, etc.). There are different prices for each determined on the discounts applied due to quantity. We currently have to keep different inventories in the POS for this and then tally yardage from the master rolls everyday after closing (1-2 hours taken) to identify re-order needs. It would be nice for Square for Retail to offer an update that would enable us to have separate items that pull from the same inventory. Shopify allowed us to do this so I’m not sure why Square does not. It would be no different than having a hardware store that sold bolts. A master box would be received and then sold by the piece or in 50 or 100 piece bags with a discount applied. Each item would be subtracted from the master box originally received as opposed to having three different inventories. I hope this makes sense and please let us know if there will be an update soon. This would help our labor rate immensely.
Thank you.

Hey! Thanks for reaching out about this. I've merged your post with an existing thread so I can keep all of the feedback in one place. I appreciate your time and please let me know if you have any further questions.

I want to make sure we're on the same page here, @chaya143 and @onegirltangling!

If you're asking if it is possible for two locations to share the same pool of inventory, I can confirm that this is not possible. Inventory tracking is on a per-location basis, so this would be considered a feature request at this time.

I've moved your posts over to this thread where @mattd provided some tips!
